Re: Help Obama see things my way
There are tons of cool ideas there. For example, moving the government's computers to free software, or a push to adopt the metric system for good. Vote for those you regard as wise and relevant.

And I think Obama knows about those.Kevin Beckman wrote:I could swear there are more important things to worry about.
This method of getting issues up is a great way to make Obama give a response.
I'd vote for this but I want legalized weed. So I'm voting for that.

Nice one. 1st Place in "Criminal Justice". It's about time people will see the "war on drugs" was a terrible idea in the first place.

No. Just....no.
I give you points for creativity though. Before I looked it up, I assumed it was the income tax amendment.

I think the popular vote for representatives is already sufficiently checked by backroom party machinations.Kevin Beckman wrote:To preserve the original checks and balances.

Now this is very suspicious. This idea was #2. The editing manager specifically said it was a cause they would not cover, and he opposed it (he has a jewish surname... coincidence?). And way too suddenly, just before the deadline, the idea went down to #5 and was dropped. This shit was fixed.

Re: Help Obama see things my way
It was probably all about not allowing anything that would embarrass them when it goes in the inevitable press release. Remember, change.org is essentially a PR stunt organized on behalf of a bunch of activist groups and PACs, not an Obama transition initiative (I bet half their traffic comes from people who mean to go to change.gov). He probably imagined the whole initiative being pigeonholed into a 15-second "LOL CIRCUMCISION" segment on the news and decided it had to go.Stormwatch wrote:By the way, the aforementioned editing manager had a jewish surname. Coincidence? Or was it all about not doing anything that could annoy the primitives who still do this freakish ritual?

Re: Help Obama see things my way
Is it "anti-semitic" to make a guess? I could also say that some guy named Abdul Hussein is probably a muslim, and no one would call me an anti-semite (arabs are semitic too, you see). Anyway, I found it's not the only case. Seems they chop votes or disqualify anything they don't like -- see here.

Re: Help Obama see things my way
What does the winning idea get anyway? The chance of being rejected by Obama himself!? Or are people really under the impression that they are digging up issues on Barack's 4-year agenda?Stormwatch wrote:Is it "anti-semitic" to make a guess?
