Never really understood what all the hype regarding L.O.L. was about.
It's thinking...

I had a white one, I just find them inferior based on their color.

Re: Look what I got in the mail today...
There was hype? If anything, I thought there was anti-hype. I didn't hear about it until long after thought I'd tried everything notable in the Dreamcast's catalogue. I certainly didn't hear about it before Border Down was released... and at the time, I was a broke college student with no money for expensive imports, nor could I find it by any other means. And I've been without a Dreamcast since 2008, so I'm only just now starting to look into some of the things I either didn't bother with or didn't have money for before.|darc| wrote:Never really understood what all the hype regarding L.O.L. was about.
The new Dreamcast came in the mail today, and LoL arrived earlier this week. This is the only "significant" game I can think of in the original Dreamcast library (not counting games with a significant language barrier--though I'd still love to see a translation of SeGaGaGa--or unlicensed releases) that I have never played in any form.
As a result, this will probably be my last first time playing an "official" Dreamcast game.

Re: Look what I got in the mail today...
I always really enjoyed Tokyo Extreme Racer, though Tokyo Extreme Racer 2 is way better. I suppose MSR fills that void, but i <3 driving the streets of Tokyo flashing my lights at n00bs.
Gamefaqs had a great guide with the real world names for the face car names in the game. Since you can rename the car names, I'd just put in the real name

Re: Look what I got in the mail today...
One of my favorite Dreamcast games is Industrial Spy: Operation Espionage.
I really enjoyed this game, and think it's too bad there aren't more games like this. I remember it didn't get very good reviews, but I think most people were expecting something different to what this is. There's a large puzzle element to it, so you'll have to keep notes as you go on through each level. Ex: "West Tower Art Room Lever controls Entrance to Basement Lab". Besides that, controlling a team of spy agents is just awesome.By the year 2000, huge corporations had overrun the government, controlling everything from politics to the economy. Many of their operations involve corporate spy teams. You're the leader of the best agency, the Blitzstahl. Your squad consists of seven agents, but each assignment only requires four to get the job done. Your agents specialize in skills like hacking, fighting, mechanics, and stealth, so you'll have to pick the best combination for each job. Be careful though, because there are plenty of traps that could spell the difference between success and failure. There are 10 missions in all that will push your team to the limit. As you give commands, watch as your squad carries out your orders and hopefully avoids a confrontation. Earn money for completing your assignments and upgrade your team's abilities as you fight to retain your title as the best spy agency in the nation.

Just checked it out on YouTube. The lack of voice acting hurts my brain.

Re: Look what I got in the mail today...
Just remembered: Fur Fighters. my copy was destroyed in a move a few years ago. Absolutely <3 this game.
The controls are a bit tricky unless you played a lot of Q3A on DC (ABXY controls forward/back and strafe left/right, analogue controls view.)
Really fun, somewhat open ended, whole slew of playable characters you can switch on the fly, and all with different abilities. Gameplay is similar to Zelda or Okami, in that there are puzzles and you occasionally need to backtrack after learning new abilities in order to advance. Graphics are decent, especially if Wii is your most recent benchmark .
Check it out, I'd be surprised if you didn't enjoy it.

I've played Fur Fighters; I jusst didn't consider it "must-own." There was also a PS2 remake with cel shaded graphics and dual analog controls.

I didn't consider it a must have either, until I got about half way through. The reviews for the DC version are pretty much universally good.
PS2 version is teh sux.

I for one think it's amazing just how many must-haves the Dreamcast had in it's first two years. I don't think any other console was able to deliver that much in such a short amount of time.

It certainly had one of the most impressive launch lineups.
