Rez HD hits XBLA this Wednesday
http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs. ... -wednesday
We're going to see the value of some collectors' games go down this week as Rez HD hits the Xbox Live Arcade. For $10, or 800 Microsoft points, you can get the experience that some people have paid upwards of $80 for on the PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast. Let's take a look at the feature list, because we're in for a good time:
Legendary gaming experience: Old-school vector style graphics, sensory response, and beat synchronization sets the title apart and is perfectly recreated in this port for Xbox LIVE® Arcade in high-definition and 5.1 surround sound.
The world of Rez: Rez consists of five different levels, each with its own unique visual theme and style, musical track, and a boss battle at the end. The game also features several different modes and lots of unlockable elements, giving it plenty of replay value.
Game modes: Play through the five areas in regular or Score Attack mode. Go to the Beyond mode and try Direct Assault, Lost Mode, the free play Trance Mission, or take on all the bosses consecutively in Boss Rush.
Feel the rhythm: To further enhance the Rez experience, artists including Coldcut, Adam Freeland, Joujouka, Ken Ishii and Keiichi Sugiyama (SEGA's Wave Master) contributed tracks to the game.
I've played the absolute heck out of the PlayStation 2 version of this game, and I think the fact that now everyone can experience it for $10 is absolutely amazing. This is a great addition to the Live Arcade. If you like rhythm games, or shooters, or just psychedelic visuals in general, this is a must-buy.
Also, Chessmaster Live will be available for 800 points as well.

I sold my copies of Rez PS2 and Ikaruga GC as soon as I heard they were coming to XBLA (before Christmas).|darc| wrote:We're going to see the value of some collectors' games go down this week as Rez HD hits the Xbox Live Arcade. I'm excited simply because I never had the chance to play Rez the first time around. I knew I had left 800 points in my account for a reason.

Re: Rez HD hits XBLA this Wednesday
No clue what type of game this is, and from all the screenshots/movies I've seen it looks boring/trippy.
What's so great about the game, and what can the base-level game mechanics be compared to?

Re: Rez HD hits XBLA this Wednesday
I used to have this for the Dreamcast but I can't find it anywhere
So I picked up some points today and I'm going to download this game tomorrow for sure, can't wait! The HD upgrade and multiple controller vibration support is worth the 10 bucks anyways

Re: Rez HD hits XBLA this Wednesday
I was realllly skeptical of the game having not played it, but just seeing videos (with shitty sound).
Because everyone has been raving about it, I bought it from XBLA. I have an HDTV, surround sound and 4 controllers.
Anyways, I turned the music up, turned all my controllers on... put two on each of my thighs and one on my crotch and then played the game.
... I'm not even kidding when I say this, but I think I just had an orgasm... but I'm really not sure.
I think it might be a little while before I play it again, sensory overload for me not being used to it. Never have I had such an experience before in my life.

Re: Rez HD hits XBLA this Wednesday
Wait, you're posting on a Dreamcast forum and never played REZ ? >_<
- Still, I am glad you've enjoyed it too. This game has been reason for me to finally buy a Dreamcast back in 2002.
Edit: ...that said, I've just noticed that I not yet played it in VGA

Re: Rez HD hits XBLA this Wednesday
Lolz.
Well I never played it because I always thought it was really stupid looking, so I didn't give it a chance. I have played a lot of other DC games though.... I'm still trying to find my Seaman....

I played the demo and really didn't see anything spectacular about it. Then again im not big into the Shooter Genre though. Was rather unique though.
