Where to Find a Higher Res (or Poster) of This Image
I hope this is the appropriate forum for this thread. Does anyone know where I could find a higher resolution scan of this image (or a poster if one exists) of Patricia Velasquez (I've searched around on Google with no luck)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Re: Where to Find a Higher Res (or Poster) of This Image
Alright, here's what I've done. I'm using the Alien Skin Software - BlowUp Photoshop Plugin.
Here are the results (Original Resolution: 410x600):
NO EFFECTS:
Patricia Velasquez - 1025x1500
Patricia Velasquez - 2050x3000
BlowUp Plugin - Sharpen Amount: 0% & Grain: 100%:
Patricia Velasquez - 1025x1500
Patricia Velasquez - 2050x3000
BlowUp Plugin - Sharpen Amount: 50% & Grain: 100%:
Patricia Velasquez - 1025x1500
Patricia Velasquez - 2050x3000
BlowUp Plugin - Sharpen Amount: 100% & Grain: 100%:
Patricia Velasquez - 1025x1500
Patricia Velasquez - 2050x3000
I've also added a poll to the thread to see which people prefer. I'm going towards the 50% sharpen amout, because anything more makes it appear "fake."
I plan on taking the higher quality version in digital form to a shop that can print it out as a large professional poster.BlowUp offers the highest quality image resizing available, better than bicubic interpolation and any other third party solution. BlowUp makes advanced image scaling easy, preserves smooth, crisp edges and lines, and creates four times (1600% area) enlargements from any image without jagged artifacts or halos. In some cases, BlowUp can enlarge up to six times (3600% area) without obvious artifacts.
BlowUp includes advanced features such as photo grain controls, enlargement-specific sharpening, and support for most image modes, including CMYK. BlowUp also supports 16- and 32-bit images and is optimized for multi-core and multi-processor systems. These features make BlowUp perfect for a professional photographer creating gallery prints from digital photos, as well as an amateur photographer creating a poster from a favorite snapshot. Graphic designers can now easily scale Web graphics up to print resolution or rescale everyday images for large format printing and outdoor advertising.

The 0% sharpen amount is the best looking. It is the most visually accurate and mimics an actual photograph with a high ISO. The other three pale horribly in comparison and look like generic Photoshop plugins.

I agree with Mel...but none of them look that great to me. I've no experience of high-res poster printing though so I have no idea how much nicer it looks on paper.
I'd personally use Rasterbator or something instead. I know it isn't the same thing but if you make the dots tiny you end up with a infitely resizeable and stylized image.

I'd bust out of healing wand and some air brush effects and just manual resize the picture then completly go back and retouch the whole photo.

Sharpen filters are supposed to be used very sparingly anyway 50/100% are way too strong, 5/10% is the maximum I'd ever use really anything higher would destroy the image. Gentle sharpen tends to be better than no sharpen if you're up sizing images.

Holy hell! That tool is brilliant! It changes the face of digital photography as we know it.

If that's the video I'm expecting the guy who developed it was snapped up by adobe after that video came out, so expect similar features in the next photoshop

That definitely deserves a holy shit! It looked like it required minimal user input to get those sort of resizing effects. If anyone hears news about this in the future, please post.melancholy wrote:

Very cool from a design or manipulation perspective, but I hate thinking of how this will affect true-to-life photography in the hands of shady journalists and marketers. But I'm wasting my breath; everything today is manipulated anyway.
