Workout Music?
Okay, one of my friends at the gym I work at is going to be out of town for several of the group fitness classes she teaches two weeks from now. I volunteered to take one of them, a senior citizen strength and balance class since I know how to teach that kind of stuff because most of my clientelle as a personal trainer are old people who need help with strength and balance. And these people are actually in better shape than the ones I usually teach so it should be easier.
But here's the rub on that: I'm not a group fitness instructor by trade and I have no idea what to put on for music. I'd use the CDs they have there but it's all atrocious 80s pop that makes me want to pull my own teeth out. So I want to make my own mix CD but I only have a few song options. They have to be stuff old people won't mind listening to, can't have any swear words in them, has to have a kind of bouncy beat, and the entire mix has to last an hour.
Here's what I have so far:
1. Bill Conti - "Gonna Fly Now" (Theme from "Rocky")
2. Queen - "Under Pressure "remix
3. The Clash - "Rock The Casbah" remix
4. ELO - "Showdown"
5. Elvis Presley - "A Little Less Conversation" remix
6. Queen - "Keep Yourself Alive"
7. Survivor - "Eye of The Tiger"
8. The Who - "Pinball Wizard"
9. Pink Floyd - "Money"
10. Led Zeppelin - "What is And What Should Never Be"
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Padded out the list a little more but I still need help

Depending on what's in your area, you could just take the pressure off yourself and try the radio. If you can find a rock station from any era, that will probably do fine. Back when I was in high school (was it really ten years ago? ), my Cross-Country coach used to just put the radio on KROQ while we were in the weight room. It worked all right.

I cannot be the only one who wishes to see footage of old-age pensioners working out to the theme of Rocky, edited into a montage, surely? I thought YouTube would have satisfied my urge to see rhythmic geriatric exercise, but a cursory search reveals nothing...

Maybe some Brian Setzer? Maybe some Jamiroquai?
Those are both good groups that older people probably won't mind listening to.

Re: Workout Music?
I would say "Rock and Roll" is a much better song for this purpose.AgentGreen wrote: 10. Led Zeppelin - "What is And What Should Never Be"

Re: Workout Music?
The reason I picked it is because of the transitions from calm and mellow to hard rock. I can have them do something softer during the calm parts and then bump up the intensity during the hard parts.|darc| wrote:I would say "Rock and Roll" is a much better song for this purpose.AgentGreen wrote: 10.
