A question about Dreamcall

I was wondering if it still works, I have tried it not so long ago but it tries to connect to dreamcall.sega.com, does that mean we won't be able to use it?

Does XDP also have that option?
Does the japanese BROADBAND PASSPORT has an option like that?

I never did understand how this thing worked, actually I completely forgot about it.
