Yeah, I read that on the dcevo page today, and I was wondering if this was true. I am on a dialup line, so I cannot really check for myself.
Did they hack this in or what? Because it says it was made with the original BOR engine, not openbor.

No, it's just a versus mode like in Streets of Rage / Golden Axe. Not a 'real' Street Fighter - like vs mode. It's using the original BoR engine, not even OpenBoR, doesn't mean the game isn't incredibly cool tho.
Your idea of a real 1:1 vs game engine based on (Open)BoR still needs to become reality.

I finally have all I need to get working on that. Give me a few days to set up the dev environment (I kind of have a library database program to finish atm) and I will get to work on that.
Versus mode on Streets of Rage? Enlighten me. I have only ever really played BOR. Does that mean it is a beat-em-up with no enemies? Or what?

L@Cible, the genius that implemented rumble & PAL support into the Dreamcast version of BoR, gave me the link to his BoR DC Tool Chain a while ago. Compiling the source is incredibly easy with it:
