I'm thinking about buying a GBA, how are you playing nes games on it?

So theres two good NES emus: pocketnes and nes2gba? How fast and compatible are they? Is it hard to set up? How big is the rom size on the flash cart? Can you put part nes emu and part other gba games?

pocketnes is nes2gba, u use nes2gba to merge the emulator and nes roms together then u flash that, yes and u can play other gba games with nes u do a multi boot and it works fine... yes the emulator at least for me is 99.999999% speed and sound is good,.... this is such an awesome emulator. like stezo said earlier we now have nes advance... the flash carts are 64 mb . 128., anbd 256.. which is more than enough for this and pother gba games...

I got my 128M card and linker shipped for about $150 (almost a third of it was shipping/customs). The linker is cheap, the carts are expensive.

forstburner: When you create the pocketnes rom with say 10 nes roms, how big is it?

btw version 6 has been released and this is the best one ever, it allows save state support as well and now plays even more games perfectly! Now i can get FFIII to work with no glitches & full speed. Hopefully the Super Mario 3 bugs have gone too, ill tell u the resulys l8a.

And also the sorce has been released, if this emu gets ported to psx, we will have a perfect Nes emu for psx aswell!!!

Well im off to play FF3 some more  ,

I've tried one of the old versions of the emulator, and its a very awesome site to see.

The only problem I have with it is that you have to scroll the screen because it doesn't all fit.

Apart from that its awesome! I've gotta try one of the newer releases.

The new release's Sub Woofer, have scaleing, meaning the whole screen is shown, however it is squashed a bit, there is the unscaled option though.
Ok enough for now....back to my pocket spectrum ;)

DCvision.com has links to the Gba/nes gmu.
You can buy the flash card from http://www.lik-sang.com

I think i might get a Gba.. A portable nes emu sounds AWESOME. A little expensive, but AWESOME. 200 nes roms is ~40mb so you could easily fit your whole collection on a single flash cart.

Does it really run near perfect??? 60 fps? (for most tested games)

welll actually

Post by frostburner »

well zacmc i would have to correct u.. u couldnt fit 40 mn on any of the flash carts and this is true becuz its too much... 64 mb means 64 mbit ... notice how some games are 32 mbit games or 64 mbit games.. u can fit 2 32 mbit games on a 64 mb cart and 1 64mbit game on a mb cart... understand... so teh table is like this...64mb = 8 megs , 128 mb = 16 megs , 256 mb = 32 mb... understand.. jus trying to clear things up

frostburner - Thanks for clearing things up. :)
There is still plenty of room to fit all my fav nes games, just not the whole collection.

:?

As far as I know, you can fit many NES games on a cart.

The large NES games are usually only up to 8 megabits, with others being 4 or 2(only the most early of Nintendo games are 2 MBits of course).

You could fit about 20 games on a 64mb cart, 50 games on a 128mb cart, and 120 games on a 256mb cart.

You could buy a Portable NES. It's called the Game Axe and is available at Lik-Sang.com. Thought I should point out that going for a slow emulater in comparision to an actual device sounds like a dumb idea.
