Re: AMEBA & Xenocider coming to Dreamcast and Saturn
Wow. Good job on getting DCJY to do a hands on. He's a great guy.
It's been 6 years Hombreimaginario. I am really impressed with Retrosumus commitment and perseverance.
Back when this project was announced I was quite skeptical with the whole fish bowl presentation but my how the project has evolved.
Respect.
I really hope nearly a decade of work is received as lovingly as the love and care RetroSumus has poured into this project.

Re: AMEBA & Xenocider coming to Dreamcast and Saturn
Congratulations to you and your team.
How long was the journey?
I'd like to see a journey trailer.
You know like a developer diary.
I hope it sells well, I also hope it doesn't immediately sell out and end up in collector vaults and people actually have a fair chance of playing the game.

To be honest, sales are going quite slow. A new DC game is not as huge news as it used to be 5 or 10 years ago. Also indie or KS games are not enjoying the same level of trust or enthusiasm from gamers as back then (unless you manage to build and maintain a huge fan communitiy of course).cube_b3 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:48 pm Congratulations to you and your team.

Re: AMEBA & Xenocider coming to Dreamcast and Saturn
I'm sorry to hear the sales are going slow. You're right, new DC games are not as big of news as they were years ago, and I kinda blame JoshProd publishing anything that can be ported to the console... I used to collect every indie title released, but had to stop doing so.
I'll pick up the game pretty soon, unfortunately money is tight right now, having some catching up to do after losing income last year.

Re: AMEBA & Xenocider coming to Dreamcast and Saturn
First things first. Please subscribe to our YouTube channel if you haven’t done so already!
Last week we broke into The Dreamcast Junkyard‘s Twitch channel to answer some questions while they were playing Xenocider live for the first time. You can check it out here:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/903749439
Retro Faith played for 3 hours straight last Thursday, tried to unlock all the unlockables and seemed to enjoy the game quite a bit too
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/910192609
Xenocider is “probably the most ambitious game for the Dreamcast in two decades”. Adam Koralik unboxes his Regular and Special edition copies, comments on some details about the game and gives the first few stages a try:

Xenocider is available in both Regular and Special editon http://retrosumus.com/shop/

Re: AMEBA & Xenocider coming to Dreamcast and Saturn
New Xenocider demo available!
It’s been years since we released our last playable demo, and the game evolved far beyond what was initially planned, so if you want to give it a try for yourself, now is the time!

Re: AMEBA & Xenocider coming to Dreamcast and Saturn
Have you reached out to distributors?
Covid certainly impacts sales of collectibles like this one.
loosen@goatstore.com
I know he is going through a tough time, MGC was a huge distribution and retro trading channel but it is no longer possible with covid. Nonetheless, he should be able to help you move games into US.

We have reached deals with a few resellers here and there, but sending higher numbers of copies to the US is complicated at the moment. No problem with France and Germany, as they're inside the EU, but it's way slower, far more expensive, and involves many other restrictions (for a very little small team like us, anyway). Let's see what we can do

Have them produce 5000 units under the Goat Store publishing label and pay you cash up front

Graham from Mega Visions / Sega Nerds plays Xenocider for the first time, so we break in by surprise to give him some tips

You'd be surprised at how small the "active" DC market is nowadays. Shrinking every year. We're struggling to sell 1500 copies, and if it wasn't for those reseller deals it would take an eternity to reach that goal!cube_b3 wrote: .

Re: AMEBA & Xenocider coming to Dreamcast and Saturn
The pandemic is playing a huge part in shrinking the retro market as well.
LMK if you want me to talk to Dan, I have served as an intermediary between him and creatives before.
Brokered deals for more than just video games.
The 5K unit was me joking, I apologize. But he would be able to produce a bulk order and move it all directly at MGC.
If and when it takes place.

Re: AMEBA & Xenocider coming to Dreamcast and Saturn
You asked for Xenocider digital editions and we listened. Xara’s unforgiving, 60-fps shooting adventure is now available on a variety of image file formats!
https://retrosumus.com/2021/03/xenocide ... -shipping/
Oh yeah, we are also offering free shipping on all remaining physical editions!

I think lots of people want digital releases because of convenience in the age of optical drive emulators, so that' great to see!hombreimaginario wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 5:27 pm You asked for Xenocider digital editions and we listened. But then free shipping on the physical version is tempting as well

Yeah I think it was a good idea to offer ODE users a chance to be cool and legal and support the devs. Not doing it is basically losing (even more) money on pirated ISOs anyway so...
If you go for a physical copy though, I promise you won't be disappointed. We made sure every little detail would make it look great on DC fans' shelves
