Even if the DC would have had Blue Ray support it wouldn't have helped because no one knew of the DC in The Netherlands
But let's not get to the discussion why PS2 is still alive and DC is not.
Thanks for uploading this video, I'm going to watch it as soon as I finished downloading it.

You feel at ease as you flock with the masses,

...I mean they did not show any footage of the games in the TV commercials - given the fact that there were any at all that is - and in their print advertisements they've put pictures of a lesser size than that of post stamps.
Judging from the screenshots in video game magazines' reviews it wasn't possible to see a difference between a N64/PS1 or a DC game - even if you tried because you saw the game running before somewhere.

First of all, the homebrew community is a hell of a lot smaller than you might think. Certainly not big enough to get covered on a Dreamcast documentary. I hate to say it but it's true.ETR wrote:Horrible.
No mention of homebrew, piracy, the cool perephirals, or anything other than
OMG THE DREAMCAST DIDN'T HAVE A DVD DRIVE SO THE PS2 KILLED IT, WE'RE JOURNALISTS, LOLZ.
That's like saying Nirvana had one a few good songs, but will just be remembered as a band.
Second, the DVD was a huge selling point for the PS2 and there's no debating that. At the time, the public more or less knew the DVD player would take over the VHS market, but everyone was hesitant to buy one since the lower end DVD players were costing $299 minimum at that time. Then, when people heard the PS2 could play DVDs along with it's games, everyone jumped ship.
Follow-up to incredibly successful console + cheap DVD player = $$$
I remember all of my friend wanted PS2 just because it had the DVD drive.
Umm... anyway.
Good documentary. I almost forgot how successful Dreamcast was at launch. *sigh* those were the days...

Mind you though, they made a big mention of how EASY coding for the DC was...

just got to download and rewatch. I think that the most important thing this said was about how sega didn't decide to kill the dreamcast, but that it was that they had as many systems made and still in warehouses as there were sold, so they simply stopped manufacturing.

After watching the documentary, I was less than impressed. I don't think they covered enough of the games. They simply showed 1st gen games + Shenmue + 2 seconds of PSO. There were a lot more great games than just that. What they failed to mention was that even after Sega pulled the plug on hardware, the software still keeps coming out. How about a little Ikaruga talk? How about the other great shooters? O well...such is life. I am glad that they had the report, but it would have been nice had they included life after the plug-pulling, 2nd-gen dreamcast games, import games, emulation, etc.
