"raytracement killers" - new demo, released Easter

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

New Dreamcast demo released at Breakpoint 2005

This year's largestest pure demoscene event, the Breakpoint 2005 in Bingen / Rhein (Germany) might be over, but gave every Dreamcast fan out there a new demo.

The Austrian / German demogroup Speckdrumm released not only the entertaining PC demo The Nonstop Schlachthaus Experience, but also their first Dreamcast demo on Breakpoint, which was mainly done by phenomenon and blockbuster.

Unfortunately I can't remember the name because I drank too much Becks. Also, there are no information on pouet.net, speckdrumm.org, scene.org, breakpoint.untergrund.net or any other website yet. Seems like we have to wait until someone is awake again.

Update! We spoke with sobec of Speckdrumm and he told us, that the title of their Dreamcast demo is "raytracement killers". You can download it here:
http://www.speckdrumm.org/Release/[sd]_ ... ers_dj.rar

By the way, you can get the first impressions from the Breakpoint party here:

Breakpoint 2005 impressions

Curious how the Breakpoint 2005 looked like? We uploaded some of our photos at the Breakpoint 2005 impressions article, including some new links to other galleries.

We also had the "Prestige" and "one" t-shirts at the party and sold almost all of it! So expect an improved re-press soon!

The Dreamcast demo "raytracement killers" by Speckdrumm, which was released there, also got a pouet entry in the meanwhile which also has a screenshot included. See here:

And as it says, we almost sold all new "Prestige" shirts. There will be an improved re-print, available in 2 to 4 weeks. Also see this thread: http://www.dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=64814

Stop. Breakpoint is definitely NOT a LAN or gamer party. Gamers (doesn't matter if PC or console gamer) would have been kicked out. Seriously.

By the look of one picture, it looks a lot like a LAN party, so I can understand why this guy thought it was one. BTW, take the lip ring out :P

Man, demo sceners are so Ħ@?Đ??Я3, the must bleed when they brush their teeth. I often wonder what the life of a scener is like...well, not *OFTEN* really...but sometimes. But actually...often.

Anyway, this Raytracement demo is cool, but people to whom it may concern should know that it's PAL video, so it won't display on most TVs in North America. What's up with that, anyway? A lot of stuff comes out in PAL-only (and I assume that even more must come out NTSC-only, but I just don't notice). How easy is it to let KOS handle the video format for you so that it works on every TV (and VGA monitors)? It's especially unfortunate in cases like this demo, which will almost certainly never have an updated version that works on NTSC TVs

Well, I think this looks like it for outsiders, because they simply don't want to have people at their places, which think they have to hack, cheat or steal something from someone, talk about LAN parties, or simply talk 1337 or kiddy style.

Not all people that go to LAN parties are like that.. Anyways, does anyone know if this works in Chankacast?

Um, sorry. It just looked like a LAN party from one of the pictures. I did not mean to act "1337" or "kiddy" in any way.

I've never even been to a LAN party, large or small, nor even seen a picture of a large one, so please don't expect me to know at first glance.

Yes, at least the video part does, unless its supposed to have no sound.
