Is Quake DC good?

Talk about Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, or other DC first person shooting game ports and mods for those games in here.

Im just curious, is it good enough to use a CD on? And is there multi-player?

No it isn't good....it is GREAT!! Heck, it should have been a game to sell in the stores with how good it looks. Perhaps not at original full retail price, but definitely atleast $20-$30 since Soldier of Fortune was Quake 2 based and sold for $30-$40. I haven't tried any of the addons, but it is terrific.

im am gonna put this topic to rest QUAKEDC IS THE GREATEST GAME !!!! it has bot support and all so it is sorta multiplayer, some good mods work on it... DOWNLOADIT... NOW... SERIOUSLY... STOP READING AND DOWNLOAD!!!!.... HE BUDDY ANYONE THERE? NOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!! lol

yep its the ultimate console game as you can add custom levels an mods (and maybe create some of your own)

I won't say it's "THE GREATEST GAME !!!!" but it is a great game and definitely worth for your CDRs.

Quake still lags here and there don't it, or have they fixed that somehow?

yes it does 'lag' at times... its only when its loading some models and such while in game. Its not lag like online... more of a bref pause.

QuakeDC is Quake 1 on dreamcast (for those that dont know)

If you like first person shooters... you should check Quake out. (On DC is great) Its the 'grandaddy' of true 3d FPS and paved the way for all that we know today. Just cause its old... doesnt mean that its not good.

Its fast gameplay and active mod comunity have kept it alive and strong.

Its the only really good true 1 player fps for Dreamcast. And with the ability to play mods and stuff it just extends the playbility. And...there is bots!

Hmm it would be kool if someone who had the time would sit down, and start cutting out sounds and what not from the paks, and try to find a way to make Quake DC run without the lags, granted we would be missing a bit of the ambient effects, but then again if it improves game play then who's really gonna miss it?

Anyhow I would definatly suggest burnign Quake DC as the lag time really is not that bad, and usually not that often, it controls GREAT (good for vegging on the couch controller and bong in hand), and the recent additions of more compact saves, bots, matrix like effects, and a whole lot else...

... I really can't complain, it's the best version of Quake I have ever played on a console!

Killer Quake Pack works on quakeDC.If that is not a reason to burn it, there is none.

(KQP has about 14 additional weapons,a shield,radar,Bombing Run,Fire Rain,Orbs Of Death,Cujo your personal dog,self destruct,fake death,exploding and fake backpacks...)

I'm not really sure how much that would help since when it lags its normally loading/meshing models not sounds :|

We could just use the pocketquake Pak0 It has been optimized for space and lower ram usage. Its about 8.2MB instead of the 17.4 of the stock pak0. (heres a link to the pocketquake download page... http://quake.pocketmatrix.com/download.php )
I didnt notice any differance in gameplay on dreamcast when I tried it for myself though.

But all the pocketquake maps and mods I've tried work well on DC. You can get links to the pocketquake map and mod pages from the link above.
