i downloaded the quake files and i open up the .rar file but i have crc errors all over the place. I think winrar doesn't recognize the other .r0* files. any ideas?

Try using a download agent to get the files!

Flashget: http://www.amazesoft.com/ is the best one I have found.

Try downloading it from the QuakeDev site (linked in my sig)
We regularly get complaints about the ones here on DCemu. But the files are fine... they're the same ones I downloaded when I first came here. It just takes some people several downloads to get them in an uncorupt form.
