The conflict may have started that way , but , a mutual peace agreement was made , in wich Bolivia could kept the terrain , and Chile got a special tax agreement.
It was signed , but then Bolivia got greedy , and ditched the economical agreement , wich later on started the Pacific War.

I dont see how this is a relevant issue in the matter at hand , however we can comment how Chile aided PERU , when Spain threatened to re-invade Peru , suffering many loses in Valparaiso , just to protect Perubian interests (that was during the pre-pacific war incident)
Later on , Bolivia and Peru again made an aliance against Chile , ironic , huh ?
Then again , Chile lost many terrains against Argentinians (check some maps kiddies) , but get some fking common sense , threaties are MADE , geographical fronteers are established , its just plain stupid to demand them now.
