PAL Game, NTSC Machine?

Post by Unph@zed »

Ok... major n00b question... but being that I just got onto Ebay recently, I never paid much attention...

Let's say I have the option of having a lovely Soldier of Fortune game, PAL version... but I have an NTSC machine... sigh... incompatibility... is there anyway, other than buying a VGA box, that I can force the game to run on an NTSC machine? Perhaps w/ a boot disc?

Try NCSX.com for the modchip and as for another way... I think there is one program that can be found at DCCopyWorld or something like that that will let you choose wat mode to play in NTSC or PAL. this is just a pure guess though.

I think the Utopia Boot Disc works for a lot of stuff. Once the game itself loads, just press right and A to select 60Hz, assuming that it comes with a 50/60Hz selector, as nearly all PAL games do.

And G-FORCE, we don't allow discussion of that site ;).

This actually doesn't happen. If the game supports PAL-60hz and is played on an NTSC machine, the TV type selection screen is skipped and the game plays back in NTSC-60hz on an NTSC-60hz Dreamcast. It's almost like the machine was intended to be made multi-region.

This doesn't work on a few games I've tried (PAL Stupid Invaders is one) but thankfully these are rare.

Ooh, didn't know that :o. It reminds me of some of the old US Playstation games that had hidden Language selectors for their European release.

I have always used the Utopia Boot Disk, or the SUPER GAME CONVERTER (Gamestop way of ripping me off, by making me by a bootup disk for Shenmue II, anyway) and these disk have worked for all my imports except one: Rez. Is there anyway to get the pal Rez to work on a US Dreamcast?

Thanx all!

Now, I just have to wait patiently as the Soldier of Fortune game I paid about $10 for is slowly sent across the Atlantic into my grubby paws... now for a light gun... anyone know anyone selling a NTSC 1st party DC light gun for under $20? hehe
