Universal Hint System (UHS) app?

Post by Stryfe »

Would it be simple to port the UHS hint system format to something DC compatible?

I figured that it'd be a good idea for games you wouldn't want a walk-through ruining, and it would work well as a SBI included on a disc with DreamSNES, or ScummVM. RPG's, ScummVM graphic adventures, even something like Doom.

The only UHS readers that I can find doing a quick google search include the official (proprietary) one, and OpenUHS which is written in Java. It's not inconceivable that such a thing could be written for the Dreamcast, but it would be helpful if there was one already written in C or C++, and then somebody could just rewrite the parts necessary to display the hints on your TV.

Okay, I see what you mean.

This is the link to Java sourceforge page you were talking about.
