I was walking down the street today and saw a car with a giant "831" stenciled on the sunroof. I've also seen "831" tagged in places. Also, my sister works with a girl that has "831" tattooed behind her ear. "831" is the local area code. Do you ever see this in your area?

Yes. 504 is the area code for New Orleans, and it's often used to represent the city.
It's thinking...

213, your hear it repped in west coast rap often. Its funny though, a lot of the 213's were forced to change to 323 since the city was running out of numbers for the area code. I'm still in the 213 area.

There is a gang called the "330 Boyz" around here. Other then their graffiti, I have not seen it used too often, thought a local clothing company does have 330 shirts.

I have never, ever heard of this. Why would anyone get tattoos of their area code? Especially of something that can change depending on if you move, where you cell phone is activated, or even by government issue if they run out of numbers. It must be a big city thing.

619 is the area code for San Diego and it's gained notoriety to the point where professional wrestler, Rey Misterio, Jr. names one of his finishing moves "The 619."
207 is the area code for all of Maine and at one time there was a crappy show called "207" on the local NBC affiliate that showcased Maine artists and musicians and crap... It got canceled because there aren't that many to showcase that are worth seeing.
So people have a weird way of turning their area code into part of their identity and it feels alien to me.

lol. weird. never heard of that sort of thing before. certainly doesn't go on in my area, to my knowledge anymore. i should write 612 or 651 somewhere and see if it starts appearing around.

Yeah, for a while there was a segment on the local news called "Life in the 831" that was about local human interest stuff. Didn't last long.

406 mafia...kind of a joke actually.
Funny enough, the entire state of Montana only has one area code.

Wow, I never would have thought some states only had one area code.pixel wrote:The entire state of South Dakota is 605.
For my job I see so many just for our coverage area.
312 is just for downtown Chicago and a few cell phones.
773 is for the rest of Chicago.
847 is for suburbs north and northwest of the city.
708 is for suburbs west and south of the city.
630 is for suburbs far west of the city.
224 is just for cellphones in the Chicagoland area.
815 is the most interesting to me because it can be either far northwest of Chicago or far southwest, but not the area in between.
I used to use this site for work to figure out where people were when they had no idea where they were at.
