Randy Newman fans?

Post by |darc| »

I just got his new album, so far it's great. Any other Randy Newman fans around here? I have only ever listened to Sail Away, which is amazing, and (of course) the unavoidable many songs he wrote for movies. I need to get more of his albums.

for those who don't know him:

Jesus darc, I hope you're kidding. Please tell me this thread is one big, funny joke.

I hope so.

It's a jungle out there
Disorder and confusion everywhere
No one seems to care
Well I do
Hey, who's in charge here?
It's a jungle out there
Poison in the very air we breathe
Do you know what's in the water that you drink?
Well I do, and it's amazing
People think I'm crazy, 'cause I worry all the time
If you paid attention, you'd be worried too
You better pay attention
Or this world we love so much might just kill you
I could be wrong now, but I don't think so
It's a jungle out there

What the fuck is wrong with Randy Newman? He's a great satirist.

I never knew who Randy Newman was exactly, but that is one of the -if not the- funniest scene(s) from what I consider the very best Family Guy episode.

That song is interesting, can someone explain the lyrics ? I got (most of) the words, but after having heard 'Political Science', I don't think I got the meaning.

Ok, I'll bite. To be fair, I've only ever heard "Mr. President (Have Pity on a Working Man)" and his songs from Toy Story. I guess I give him a bad rap from seeing the Family Guy scene above many times, but to be fair I haven't heard any sort of decent amount of his material.

Maybe someday...

Believe me, what you see is what you get. Either you liked that video that darc posted, or you' don't. Let's just say... Randy Newman is an EXTREMELY rare taste. I don't think I've met a fan of his yet...

I like a few of his songs, but he definitely gets to be a bit too much at times. I think his songs for Toy Story are actually amongst his best.

So, I'd say I don't really qualify as a fan.

Fat ole husband walking overrrr.

Have heard a few of his songs, but cant take him very seriously, since he wrote 'short people'; and also because Will Sasso has depicted him many times hilariously.

I'd rather do that than listen to 24 hours of Randy Newman.
