Wait, when did Mario Kart come out? I didn't even know it was released, well, anywhere. Is it even out in Japan yet?

Assuming Hasney's referring to the Wii version, it isn't officially out anywhere yet, but it got leaked onto the internet yesterday. It is due out in Europe in a few days, however.melancholy wrote:Wait, when did Mario Kart come out? I didn't even know it was released, well, anywhere. Is it even out in Japan yet?
I've given it a quick go, and it seems pretty decent. I don't have the wheel attachment, but I'm still enjoying the Wiimote-only control method--it allows much smoother control than was ever possible with a directional pad or analogue stick, in my opinion. I'm also rather pleased that the karts seem to handle more along the lines of the ones in Mario Kart DS, rather than Double Dash, which seems embarrasingly clunky in comparison.
I haven't had a chance to try the online play yet, as the servers were soon taken down, no doubt because the only people using them would be using the leaked version. Reading posts elsewhere from people who did manage to get on, however, shows cross-continental games of 12 players being a complete success, without a hint of lag.

So like, does everyone here have a modded Wii or something? Because I assumed half the forum would be posting Smash Bros codes, but only three people even mentioned buying it.

I don't have a chipped Wii. I was gonna buy Smash Bros. whenever it comes out as with Mario Kart. But I'll tell you this much, a date hasn't even been set for Smash Bros yet!!

Other than that, how is the game? How are the new tracks, and what old tracks are coming back? Powersliding easier? Are the tricks beneficial at all? Best control method? Characters?
I'm not sure how it slipped under the radar so much, but I know nearly nothing about this game...

Sounds AWESOME!
I've been waiting for another Mario Kart... for some reason Double Dash just felt too... gimmicky to me, I hope this solves it! Is it more similar to DS or Double Dash? ... and is there a 'hop' button? I miss that ability =(

Seeing as it's in every Mario Kart game, I'm pretty sure it is.MulletMan13 wrote: ... and is there a 'hop' button? I miss that ability =(
Another reason is because you need to 'hop' to drift. And I know drifting is included.

I'm confused. How could .com's admin panel possibly connect to this one? Surely someone would have changed the mysql password by now...

007 can't figure out how to configure a forum. He had the script path on .com's forums set to a .org URL. So after you logged in, it redirected you to .org. Hasney logged into .com and immediately clicked the admin panel, which happened to be the .org panel. Luckily he didn't do anything else besides delete his posts...butters wrote:I'm confused. Ripping your own Wii games is pretty easy. For a PC, afaik you still need a specific LG drive, but you can run a homebrew program on the Wii that dumps the game in the drive to your SD card. If you don't have a big enough SD card, you can dump the game in chunks and put it back together once they're all on your PC.

That sounds like a great deal, ripping it to the SD card. What is the biggest wii game to date? Will pretty much all of them fit on a 4GB sd micro with an SD adapter on it?|darc| wrote:Ripping your own Wii games is pretty easy. Last question: if the games are small, can you fit a few on an sd card and play them from there or would you have to put them on a dvdr? It would be great if I could keep a few on sd cards and lug those around rather than the actual disks.
