Sega 32X Technical Demo

Post by Calavera »

Check this out it's pretty cool, shows what the 32X is capable of. Too bad the games didn't look half that good.

Holy crap, I could have been tricked into thinking that was a PS1 demo.

Wow. I feel bad for all those 32X owners that never got to see the platform mature. Even so, the 32X was a stupid idea.
It's thinking...

The 32X was the worst thing Sega did. Ever. In the end it was the reason the company failed.

I wonder what happened to Zyrinx. Those guys were pretty talented.

The PS3's size has nothing on the Genesis/Sega CD/32X ensemble all put together. It requires three power outlets just to plug all the damn power bricks in. All to play FMV games. And the saddest part is that, back then, I though that was the coolest thing ever.

Its a shame that most of the 32x games looked only slightly better than most snes games. Much like the jag, the 32x had lots of untapped potential it would seem.

WE NEED A NEW UNITY!

I think the last scene in this video is the only one from a game that was actually released: Amok, which was moved to the Saturn after the 32X tanked. Pretty good game, and hard as hell.
Lines join in faint discord and the Stormwatch brews
. . a concert of Kings as the white sea snaps
. . at the heels of a soft prayer
. . whispered

It's a shame that the 32X fell in to the same kind of trend that the MEGA CD had of basically sporting a handful of slightly enhanced Megadrive games when quite clearly both were capable of much more.

I think it was mainly 3rd party games that fell in to that category, was it laziness on their part or just not being able to get to grips with the hardware?

Well if you look at Sonic CD, add in a 32x for a sequel and it would be bad ass.

I got a 32X back when they first came out for $150 I think. The only games I ever got to play were Cosmic Carnage, Doom, and Knuckles Chaotix.

Knuckles Chaotix was decent, but it could have been done on a Genesis.
