Re: help me select a case [PC]
I think the third one looks the best. I also like the second one, but I fear that the beveled edge on the drive bays will look terrible once you remove a cover and add a DVD drive to it. It will look like a chunk was taken out of the case or something.

I would never, ever trust a power supply that comes with a case that cheap.

Re: help me select a case [PC]
That third one is hideous, it's like a "1337" version of a Mac Pro case with LEDs, fans and "speed holes". The second one is tolerable, and the best of the lot.
Edit: Didn't see the side of the second case... if you replaced that with a solid panel it'd be great.

Re: help me select a case [PC]
i have a black/silver version of the first case (coolermaster centurion 5), and i love it to death, it comes with two fans pre-installed, and the entire front is mesh with dust filter behind it, so you can pretty much fill up any remaining DVD bays with fans for extra air intake (ive got a 120mm fan on a 4-in-3 harddrive module sucking in extra air behind the centre three slots)
it also features tool-less installation of drives, which is nice
as for the power supply, how about just taking the PS from your current case and moving that over? if its working in your current case, it will work in a new case (provided you dont add a gazillion case fans and cold cathode tubes)

Re: help me select a case [PC]
I had the 3rd one and its a hunk of shit. The little fake rivets on the side pop off and the case looks cheap up close.

Re: help me select a case [PC]
I'd suggest... anything without neon! These look really nice, in a no-frills, old-school sort of way.

there was a time when i was impressed with lit-up fans and clear panels in pc cases, but now i hate them- go for a plain metal case,

Re: help me select a case [PC]
Agreed. My current case is ~5 years old(!) and so has a window and one light-up fan left. Next computer I build is going to have a new case. Not a beige box, but something more closely related to that than to what I have now.not just souLLy now wrote:there was a time when i was impressed with lit-up fans and clear panels in pc cases, but now i hate them- go for a plain metal case,

Re: help me select a case [PC]
same here, i enjoy my cm centurion for its simplistic stylish designnot just souLLy now wrote:there was a time when i was impressed with lit-up fans and clear panels in pc cases, but now i hate them- go for a plain metal case,
my previous case had some mods done to it, it had multiple LED fans running, a selfmade fan controller (12-7v switch) with lots of lights, and i got sick of all the extra lighting within a few weeks. Thats why i went with the least possible amount of leds and stuff for my next rig. Currently even the little "computer is on" led on the mobo annoyes me, damn MSI
