Quitting smoking

Post by CupNoodle »

This is fucking difficult. I'm honestly trying, but I've slipped up three times in the last 48 hours. I've got a headache, I'm moody, and I really want to light up.

Anyone else here quit smoking?

I quit smoking about 2 or 3 months ago. I've found myself slipping up with Captain Blacks, but I have yet to smoke a cigarette.

Hang in there man. First week is the absolute worst. Make sure you go out and drink one night, if you can resist smoking during a night of drinking, all other days seem like cake.

I dread the day I have to quit. It sounds horrible. I tried once but didn't really have the willpower to quit, I lit up the next day. I enjoy smoking too much right now to quit, but there will be a day when I get tired of it and want to change, and I know that time will be hell. I have a strange addiction though, when we first moved to Topeka and I lived at my grandma's house while out house hunting, I went a whole month without smoking! But you bet your ass that the day we got a house, I lit up and I felt like I was in heaven.

Good luck to you.

God luck man.

I can't really give any advice, I've never been in that situation.

My grandpa is on Chantix and it's working well for him. He hasn't even had a craving, and he's been a smoker for like 50 years.

50 years? Wow. Wasn't he supposed to die of lung cancer already?

It's amazing. Smoking can kill someone in their 20's and someone who's been smoking for 40 years (my mom) or 50 years (your grandpa) are perfectly well.

Well, my mom's not well, but it's not smoking related.

I managed to quit once. I eased myself down. Limiting how much I smoked. Then got some of that gum. Snapped one day and started again though. Eitherway. Why are you trying to quit? You're too young to quit god damnit.

He got emphysema and the doc told him if he ever smokes again he'll probably die. BTW if you've ever seen the crap they take out of your lungs when you have emphysema, you'll never want to smoke.

Because $5 for a pack of cigs is fucking highway robbery. I could be using the money to buy records or a new computer.

I'd like to start running again, too.

Most smokers never get lung cancer, regardless of how long they smoke. Or any other cancer, for that matter.

Actually even after just one ciggerette you'll get lung cancer a smaller penis and will now be directly responsible for the holocaust.

Man, that's tough. I feel for you. Whenever I stop smoking, I get that lousy feeling, like being hungover. My neck hurts, I'm sweaty, and I'm in a REAL bad mood.

I feel ashamed of looking around for a cigarette butt, just to get one puff... like a junkie.

My motivation to quit is financial, too. I found out something that helps: buy yourself something that amounts to what you would have spent on smokes for a month- a game, a video card, some clothes, whatever floats your boat. You'll get some motivation, and get a sense of accomplishment. It really helps.

I only smoke American Spirits because everything else tastes like chemicals. They're $5 a pack and I smoke 10-12 per day.

30 days/2 = 15

15 * 5 = $75
