Valentines day:
Personally I prefer to celebrate the St Valentines day Massacre.
A few fries short of a happy meal.

It's thinking...
Most who claim its a Hallmark holiday lack people to spend V-Day with.ace wrote:Anyone who complains that V-day is just a Hallmark holiday is either cheap or wants to be "different" imo. I don't give a fuck if you give your girl flowers every single, stop trying to be so damn controversial and just buy a damn card and some flowers.

Honestly I don't have a problem with something as simple as that. I do think its stupid though to go out and buy expensive rings/bracelets/necklaces, etc. I will admit though I am cheap when it comes to things like that. I just have a hard time spending a lot of money on something that does nothing. I mean I don't care abit to spent $400 on say a Xbox 360, but thats because it does something. A $400 diamond necklace does nothing but scream "STEAL ME" to the thieves. Yea yea its pretty and all that, but there are other pretty things in the world that don't cost hundreds of dollars.ace wrote:Anyone who complains that V-day is just a Hallmark holiday is either cheap or wants to be "different" imo. I have always bought into the holiday. As stated above if you don't she thinks you hate her etc. But I have never spent any large amounts of money.

It may be a hallmark holiday. Things may be more expensive than usual.
But then again, how many of us aren't Christians here but we celebrate Christmas ? It's not about the reasoning behind it, it's just because. That's all, the only reason is just because.
My girlfriend said it's a stupid hallmark holiday and I daren't buy her a present. Normally I'm the type of guy who'd say fine, then let her get mad, it would be her own fault for saying something stupid. But I need the credits damnit.
I'm just going for a card and I'm going to attempt to cook. For those that don't know me, I do not cook.

Flowers and teddy's are seen as a bit tacky. Women have come to expect them and some may think you arent trying. Id suggest buying one or the other and some chocolate. You dont want to overdue it. (though some may like it)
As for the chocolate, most of the shit in the heart shaped box tastes mediocre at best. If you live in the states, try importing some Cadbury's or Thorntons. If you live in the UK see about getting some belgian chocolate.
Unless your girl has her heart set on that platinum diamond ring that'll cost you a months pay a good box of chocolate will score the most points.

We don't need Belgians.. we already have the bloody Thorntons. Does the trick every time.Komid wrote:Flowers and teddy's are seen as a bit tacky. I'm gonna see Hot Fuzz with my lady, have a nice meal, a couple of drinks and see where the evening takes us
Don't rip on the holiday because you don't have a date and didn't pluck up the courage to ask someone out. At the very least go out for a meal with a friend you care about and make someone else without a date feel good.

I have someone to spend it with, and i still think (always thought) it's stupid. I think you're letting pride get the best of you, and reinforcing it with arrogance. You dont need a holiday as a reason to get your gf something nice. Gifts are expected, and thats... bleagh...you get more brownie points for unexpected shit anyway.Ceeg wrote:Most who claim its a Hallmark holiday lack people to spend V-Day with.ace wrote:Anyone who complains that V-day is just a Hallmark holiday is either cheap or wants to be "different" imo. All of these consumer holidays make me sick. Buy, buy ,buy. Thats why I like halloween, you buy a $2 bag of candy for about 20 kids. You dont have spend over $15 to have a blast on it.

Or you know the fact it's an arbitrary day set aside so people can buy stuff to give to someone. X-mas was originally chosen because the pagans celebrated the winter solstice and the Christians set their numbers to coincide to attempt to convert them.ace wrote:Anyone who complains that V-day is just a Hallmark holiday is either cheap or wants to be "different" imo.
