original retail price of the DC
Me and my business partner were discussing new consoles and their prices. Well, the DC came up, and I thought the original retail price on release was $199. He was saying that it was $299. He says he remembers, because he bought one on 9/9/99.
So, which is it??

I think he has the dc confused with the saturn: didn't the saturn retail for $299?
Edit:Nevermind. I just remembered that the saturn debuted for $399 and the Playstation debuted at $299; my bad.

If you ever have a related console question, the first place you should always look is gamefaqs.com. They always will have someone that has written a guide on a particular console, including original price.SlammedNiss wrote:I even googled it. I guess I wasnt tyoing in the right words..Rand Linden wrote:You and/or your friend need only to enter "dreamcast launch price" into Google for your answer.
Rand.
thanks for everybody's answer

I'm not sure that gamefaqs is worth your time -- here's a sample of the reviews posted for b!DC titles.
If you happen to agree with the scoring and the comments from the reviews, then by all means, use gamefaqs are your first stop when looking for game information.
OTOH, if you think that their reviews are completely full of crap -- or at least largely so -- keep gamefaqs in its rightful place... last.
The reviews for b!DC MGS were 6/10 and 8/10.
"Slight graphical improvment will motivate some to play."
"Why play it on Dreamcast, while you can play it on your Playstation?"
"Now go get your DC graphics hat. Ready for the score? It's: 3/10
bleem! has made a great looking PLAYSTATION game look even better. With anti-aliasing and a higher resolution, Solid Snake has never looked this good...ON A PLAYSTATION"
Those for b!DC TK3 were 2/10 and 6/10
"Problem with Bleem! Tekken 3 is....well, it doesn't seem to have been done right somehow. The graphics, specifically....look pretty much just like they did on the Playstation. Especially when you add to the general look the fact that there's SLOWDOWN. And I don't mean a little - there's game impeding slowdown here, possibly the result of unfinished programming."
"And in the end, it's a pretty pathetic project. Why boot up the Bleem! disc, then get out your Tekken 3 disc so that you can play a game that's better on the original 32-bit Playstation? No reason, is the sad answer. "
Yeah, right.

My perception of the general public's reaction to b!DC is clearly at odds with the sum total of the reviews available at gamefaqs.Dark Savant0 wrote:Rand, kick their ass.
I'm sure that some people out there agree with those reviews -- and it's also quite possible that I'm way off base with my understanding of how the public received b!DC...
... however, it may also indicate the general "depth and breadth" of knowledge available at gamefaqs -- especially when you consider that those were the only reviews present, and there wasn't even a single one for b!DC GT2.
As always, use as many sources as possible when looking for informed answers.

Agreed. Rand, don't take it personally.Segata Sanshiro wrote:Those reviews are ignorant as sh*t!!!!
Those idiots don't have any idea about what an emulator is! Maybe they expect to see a completely redone game on the DC.... like 'vanishing point' for example or 'rayman 2'.
Or maybe is just fanboy envy!!
