AVG is free no more; where to turn?
I plan on cleaning off XP today and reinstalling it. I just found out that AVG is no longer free. I can still update the AVG installation I've got now just fine. I would've never known it's not free anymore if I hadn't visited their site. So... what are my legal options to another good free anti-virus? McAfee and Symantec suck anyways.

What, like windows 2000?Stormwatch wrote:How about using a non-crappy operating system this time?
Anyways, this brings me to something that happened last night at work.
"Excuse me, do you carry Mac software?"
"What exactly do you need?"
"Antivirus. My brand new $3000 mac laptop (With one gb of memory) is running slow."
I blamed spyware, cuz last I knew, what little mac spyware there is is more then mac viruses.

If your saying that he should use linux or something like that i can think of a lot of things for why he might not want to do that.Stormwatch wrote:How about using a non-crappy operating system this time?
1 being how many games run on linux perfect?.
2 How many of them games are new games?.
3 how many times are drivers for video cards, sound cards etc updated on linux?.
If i had to pick windows xp or linux id pick windows xp, as id be more happier knowing that ill be able to play whatever game i want then only being able to play a few games, and then having to mess with stuff to get them games working right.
Now if you didn't mean that then forget what i just said.

There are zero OS X viruses, so if there are any Mac spyware programs, then yes, there are more than there are viruses. But, last I checked, they don't exist, either.ETR wrote:Anyways, this brings me to something that happened last night at work.

Isn't Microsoft's spyware/virus thingy free?
I'm a lone wolf looking for trouble.

The latest version is 7, which does not have a free version. At least that was the way it was the last time I checked their site.
