havent played HL2 yet, but today ill be building a new comp, it wont be very fast, but i hope it still will be able to play HL2 at 1024*768 without to many framedrops
but even if i havent played it yet, id say half life 2 is better, just because halo 2 was so damn dissapointing

For the record, I like Halo 2 better.
I've always had a problem with HalfLife's main character, Freeman. He's just not action-star material. And the whole crowbar thing just seems ridiculous to me.
Maybe he's targeted to geeks, who supposedly will identify with him. I don't.
But I could never see what was the big deal about HalfLife 1, so you can see I'm not a big fan of the series. It just seems like a generic shooter to me. And in PC games, shooters are a dime-a-dozen.
Halo has a more cinematic feel to it, in my opinion. They say it's the shooter for non-shooter fans, and if it is, that's actually a good thing.

You aren't supposed to identify with him. You're supposed to be him. That's why he never says a single word in the entire game, why you never see him, why the entire game is played in first person...Maybe he's targeted to geeks, who supposedly will identify with him. I don't.

Halo 2 was built from the ground up with multiplayer in mind.
Half-Life 2, likewise, was built for singleplayer.
Just because they're both FPSs doesn't mean they're both the same.
(BA: I don't think the game's done in first-person to get the player to identify w/the main character; it's in first-person because it's an FPS. What I mean is, I don't think they said, "okay, we have this great story; what's the best way to tell it? (a FPS.) Rather, they said, "okay, we want to make a kick-ass FPS; what's a good story that will help get the player more involved with the game?)

Until Halo 2 is released on PC, no comparison is possible.
The reason for having: A firewall
Independance day, the aliens were destroyed because a computer was used to access their network and disable key systems. If they had had a firewall, the earth would be just another worthless rock floating in space.

What he means.. (I assume) is that in HL, you never see Freeman in any cutscene. Every cutscene is from your perspective, in first person. You never hear him talk. Whereas with most games, a cut scene will go to some 3rd person angle, with your character rambling on with someone. So with HL, you get more of a feeling of 'being Freeman'.greay wrote:Halo 2 was built from the ground up with multiplayer in mind.
