"The Toronto Star is reporting that the episode of Jeopardy where Ken Jennings (a.k.a. 'The Jeopardy Guy') finally loses aired this evening. It came down to a 2-person finish (3rd had -2600 at the end of Double Jeopardy, and was eliminated) between Ken and opponent Nancy Zerg, with the final category being Business & Industry. Ken answered 'Fed Ex' to the question 'Most of this firm's 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only four months a year,' when the correct answer was 'H&R Block.' Ken finished his record-streak with just over $2.5 Million."

from the fall-of-a-champion dept.
kwings writes "SF Gate (via the AP) is reporting that your pal, Ken Jennings has been beaten after his 75th(!) game. I fully expect Mr. Trebek to hold a wake, or to keep calling the champion 'Ken' for the rest of the season. Since they're only up to airing game 41, it will be an interesting few months (or 34 shows)."

Based on trivia.weeperofsouls wrote:the guy broke every game show record in existance. it was bound to happen eventually. gotta respect someone who made that much money on an intelligence based show like jeopardy.
Big difference. There is no problem solving or higher cognitive thinking involved in Jeopardy. Just knowledge of facts and figures.
Not to bring the guy down though. Higher retention usually means higher intelligence as well.

It's not the primary basis of the show, but there are categories like anagrams and some other wordplay stuff that is common knowledge (to the degree that anything on Jeopardy is) but you have to decode the question. There is no problem solving or higher cognitive thinking involved in Jeopardy.

well, winning big on jeopardy takes more brainpower then winning on say, wheel of fortune. or family feud. man the people on those two shows are braindead.toastman wrote: Based on trivia.
