Sonic Vs Mario: War Of The Consoles

Well since my mod has now had a name change, i thought i would make a new topic and start of fresh, anyway, i know i said i would have a demo out by yesterday, but im having trouble with getting the right images for the levels, so im going to work on that tonight, and i might have a demo out by some time next week, cos i don't want to rush out a demo until the game can play good, so instead for now i'll give we some news on the game, and let ye know some of the games details.

ok the game will come as 2 mods Sonics side, and Marios side, for each mod im planing on having 8 playable characters plus 2 secret Characters for each side, that will bring the total of playable characters up to 20.
when you pick one side as in say you pick marios side, you will be fighting sonics side, the might end up being a 3rd mod added on to the first 2 for the last levels (Zerotype is working on that), the last levels will be inside nintendos and segas consoles, and will have characters based on processers and gfx cards for each of them consoles, so as you can see this is going to be a pretty big mod.

I plan on trying to have it finished in 3 to 4 months time, if everything goes well, it should make its dead line, Kongpow is helping out with spirite rips, and zerotype is working on the final stages and characters, if anyone here would like to join the team and help with spirite ripping or levels or music or anything you think you would be able to lend a hand with that would be great, and if anyone knows where the is some nice images and stuff that i can use for sonics and marios levels please let me know.

Well, i know i have not giving any news on this in a for days, things are going pretty slow since im trying to finish riddick and shallshock nam 67 on xbox atm, but so far i have link just about finished, sonic is fully done, and so is mario thanks to kongpow, here is an image of sonic and link, as you can see link looks more bigger then sonic, i done that cos in the sonic x animes, all the humans are bigger then sonic and co, so i thought that link would also be bigger then him, i photoshoped link to put him closer to sonic for this image, it will still be awhile before i have a demo out, i want to have atleast 2 playable characters for each side, atm im mostly working on sonics side of the game. Anyway heres the image.

100% right, for the mario side anyways, the sonic side is rippid right out of that sonic fighting game for gba.

I think the background is too simple. It has like 10 colours.
Looks like a nes game. And I think you need chance the perspective of the ground by an isometric one. It's only my opinion.

But Link looks great. :D

the background is not finished ;) , its just there to give an idea as to what the characters look like in game, atm im not really working on the backgounds just the characters, so if anyone would like to help out with backgounds let me know, cos thats something im not very good at, and also if anyone knows where i can get backgound spirites from sonic and mario games also let me know :D .

Ah, well you see I will be doing the sound effects for this mod, and I will be ripping them from Super Smash Brothers Melee. It will be an easy task, and the characters I will be getting sounds for are as follows Zelda, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Donky Kong, Bowser, Sheik, and Kid Link.

That splash screen looks awesome Saiyan Eye. I'm not really keen on the font you used for "Sonic" and "Mario", but the graphics look fantastic.

Trust me, NES didn't even have near 10 colors (4 for sprites, about 4-6 for backgrounds probably). Though, I agree that the lack of detail makes it not look right. Perhaps clouds would make that look better.

@Omegasis: Nice Stage. It would make since to use that one.

@Saiyan Eye and curt_Grymala: I like the font for Sonic and Mario, but not for the "vs." and war of the consoles". I know you were probably going for a simple font for that part, but it just doesn't feel right.

I love the background also, but I'm not sure if it fits the atmosphere too well. Perhaps you can add some transparent, colorless characters of each team behind the mascots.
