dcemu seti@home group
I did a quick forums search for a dcemu seti group and, seeing none, made my own. The group is http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stat ... 87675.html

reasons why seti@home is bad:
1) You put yourself directly at risk of alien memetic attack.
Don't laugh, it might happen.
2) More people use it than that cancer at home thing.
Sheesh, that's your average internet users priority system right there.
3) If there's alien intelligence out there technologically superior to us, they don't want to know about us as a race.
Frankly, I don't blame them.
4) If there's aline intelligence out there technologically inferior to us, I think we all know we're just gonna bomb shit out of them and steal whatever they have to offer in the name of colonisation.
edit: 5) you open up a bunch of ports and cpu processing power to do the governments job for it - woo!

I processed an entire SETI@home data block in 10 minutes on my G4 the other day..the next one has taken over 16 hours....
where is this cancer at home thing? I can't find it
another one to look at: protein folding: http://folding.stanford.edu/
(Although I think my computer is too slow for it)
