GTA Vice City for the PC rocks!

Post by MetalGearRay »

I got Vice City for the PC today, even though I have the PS2 version. The framerate is smooth, and the graphics are great. The framerate is a lot smoother than GTA3 for the PC. This game is a lot more PC optimized. I can't wait to try it on my laptop and play it on the road. :D

Try turning the Frame Limiter off. If your PC can handle it, you'll be playing at 60+ FPS instead of the usual 30 8)

You cant fly em with a keyboard: The Forward key makes you elevate, instead of bringing you forward.

Darc said he had a time with that mission.. He had to fly around sidewards, And beat it after quite a few tries.

If it is anything like the ps2 version, there is no foward key in helicopters. You had to push the analog stick up so you get angled and head forward.

it's under display options..

as for the helicopter you have to use the number pad and the forward buttons.. it takes a little bit of practice but I'm a master.. ( I wish ) now.

I don't know if it's just me, but when I turned the FPS limiter off, while it looked a lot smoother, I was getting to parts of town before they loaded completely.

That's a Windows XP problem - put it into Windows 98 compatibility mode, and all will be fine.

Thats BS that it don't work with Windows XP. I can understand older games not working well with WinXP, but XP has been here awhile and is the new standard. There is no reason for new software not to work for it.

I had thought about getting this game, but I don't fancy the idea of buying a joystick so I can fly the copter.

The reason why there is no forward key in helicopters is simple.

There is no forwards movement in helicopters. Whenever you see a helicopter moving forwards in the sky, look at it, it will always be tilted slightly downwards. I'm not sure quite how it works, but anyway just do the same in the game. Tilt the helicopter just right and you can get some real speed on those things.

There is a forwards key. I think it's 9 and 6 on the numeric keypad. It tilts the helicopter forward and allows you to fly, (at least with the RC ones, I haven't flown the normal ones yet)

These keys also allow you to stand up/pull a mono on the motorbikes.

You control the angle and power of the red thrust vector. The vertical component of thrust must be equal to the weight of the heli to make it stable and there must be a horizontal component to make it actually move.
Now I don't know how GTAVC's Helis perform but if you were to angle the thing forward about 30 degrees and apply full thrust, you certainly would speed.

The reason for having: A firewall

Independance day, the aliens were destroyed because a computer was used to access their network and disable key systems. If they had had a firewall, the earth would be just another worthless rock floating in space.

Nice drawing of a helicopter!

I guess the "forward" key is actually a tilt-a-litte-bit key.
