Yes i do realise that, the new ram only works on new motherboards.?Sony wrote:you seem to be forgetting that you can't just "upgrade" pc133 to pc2100 . you'd have to get a new motherboard that supports DDR Ram.
I only learned reasently that some old motherboards cant take ram with only 4 chips, do research before you get any more ram for your comp.

No! Keep away from the Soundblasters! They produce noise and hiss. I have the same card you "want", and hooked up to my reference audio system, I can hear it sounds like crap.El Dokteer wrote:Onboard AC97 sound (Soon to get a Soundblaster Live 5.1)
Get a Turtle beach a Yamaha instead, if you want crystal sound.

The new, 3rd gen I believe, Live cards don't seem to hiss as much as the older versions (they also seem to get along slightly better with VIA chipsets, yay ) as my friend has got one hooked upto his music studio and it sounds pretty sweet.mr. darkness wrote:No! Apparently there is no noticeable hiss on any of his inputs or outputs (using relatively high-end audio equipment) and I cannot hear any noise using my Live and speaker setup either. They still get a bit bitchy / noisy on the PCI interface thoughmr. darkness wrote: Maybe I got one of the older gen Live! 5.1's . But they still hiss a bit or what?

My friend still has his 5.1 on his comp, and I can't hear any noise or hiss. Also, I'm buying this card off of him, and I think it'll be better than my AC97, especially considering it's costing me $30 CDN.mr. darkness wrote:No! Keep away from the Soundblasters! Besides the hiss it's a good card. and dirt cheap.El Dokteer wrote:My friend still has his 5.1 on his comp, and I can't hear any noise or hiss. The thing is you can't hear it with computer speakers or mid-end setups.
And obviously this has been fixed (or something) in the later revisions...
