Did you just see this? It's been advertised all over.... years and years...

And he was referring to ram (since you didnt mention that), and there's no proof he ever even said that quote (I remember a letter to the computer paper flaming a writer for using that quote saying that there's no proof Bill ever said that and he denies it also.)

Even if he did say it, I don't really think it is that strange.

After all, it would have been around the late 70s / early 80s when computers were little more than glorified typewriters. At that point I doubt anyone, even the mighty Bill Gates could have foreseen the explosion that would happen in the PC industry.

In the days of the Vic20 640k was unconcievable, the Vic's 3k was state of the art and yes I do have a Vic20. Then again even when the 128k Speccy, Amstrads & Commodore's apeared 640k was still way off in most peoples eyes mine included.

The statement could still be true today. Not talking about extended RAM, but 640k of system RAM is enough....
