Strife

Talk about Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, or other DC first person shooting game ports and mods for those games in here.

Strife

Post by XDelusion »

I wonder if anyone is going to tackle Strife? No one ever seems to bother with Strife, not even on hte PC.

Now that I have opened the door...

...HA HA HA. Does that mean I am aboot to get flamed?!?! :)

I am not shure if the source to Blood ever made it out, though that would be just as good as having Duke on the DC, if not better.

As for Strife, it is another game like Heretic and Hexen that was based upon the DOOM source, and used the WAD file format so I do not see why it can not be ported. The only PC port I have seen (and it don't work correctly) was Vavoom, which is sadly the only port, I wonder why?

We're all equal here, at least that is the reality of it all despite what some elitists might think. :)

I don't think that the source code to Strife was ever released. I could be wrong, of course, but I think that only Doom, Heretic and Hexen had source releases.

If not, then I wonder how they got it running under Vavoom?

I've never even heard of Strife. Is it cool? Do I need to hunt down a copy?

I think that the Vavoom guys probably re-coded the game using their engine. It's been done a few times before for other games, like the guy who was working on GLDuke. I'll have to check it out.

Ya, I was just thinking, it is a WAD file, it shouldn't have been too hard for them to figure out what is what.

And YES, if you like the DOOM engine, you'll love Strife, it is your basic DOOM type game except you walk around towns, talk to people, then go out to battle. :)

Think of a mix between DOOM and a RPG.

Great great game; it is not linear (there are many ways to get the job done; killing is not the only alternative).

And in one level it's you and an army versus the bad guys, warfare!!
The last boss is cool too, and the story is great.

Does anyone have a link to where I can buy it? If not, I'll have to take a look over at my favorite store...

The engine isn't maybe not modified. But Strife has features DooM have not.
So you have to modify the binary.
