Who has never done this? And I'm not saying its right because the masses have done it, I'm doing this to see who's really practicing what they preach... AND DON'T LIE!

I don't have any MP3s currently on my computer that werent either downloaded from 'legit' sites or taken from CDs to save me looking through hundreds of CDs for specific songs.
EDIT: although I will admit I have a quite large number of 'bootlegs' that have never officially been available to buy by record labels in MP3s, CDs, cassette tapes, even vinyl. Its mostly obscure demo tracks and live stuff admittedly, but is probably a breach of copyright.

That's great, you have more self control than I on that subject matter. But it doesn't answer the initial question.Nyarlathotep wrote:I don't have any MP3s currently on my computer that werent either downloaded from 'legit' sites or taken from CDs to save me looking through hundreds of CDs for specific songs.

I download a whole bunch of mp3s of CDs that I would never buy, but if I like an artist I'll buy his album. Since I got my CD burner I've probably only bought 4 CDs.

I buy ALL of my video games and PC games... (Except for Sudden Strike and Commando, which I downloaded). I once bought a few DC backups from this guy about 2 years ago... (But I do know a certain someone who has WAY too many DC ISOs, coughdarcisawarezmonkeycoughcoughcough)
Umm... I have about 20 movies I've downloaded off the net... But when the DVD comes to stores, I buy most of the ones I've downloaded.
I'll never buy software from the store... Paying $400 for Photoshop is insane when you can get it with 5 clicks of a mouse. (Sorry )
Come to think of it... I was a bit naughty last summer - Blockbuster had a summer deal, you pay $30, for 30 rentals.. You get one each day. So I invested it all into PSX games, and being this was the time when I first got my CD Writer, I got a bit... Inventive . Copied about 20 out of the 30 games... Only thing I gained out of that was Jackie Chan's Stuntmaster... God, I love that game.
But as for the future, and the past year, I buy all of my games. I will not get Xbox ISOs because I will not support the war against my favorite console. Anyway, My post may seem hypocritical at times, But you have to understand, different actions in different times, and I regret many illegal actions (Except for downloading unbelievably expensive software, which I will never be stupid enough to buy.)

I have. (downloaded something I'm not entitled to)
roms
music
pc games
console cd games
apps
Basically, anything I thought would be useful or interesting. Am I a criminal? Are there people living on the street because of me? Have I ruined someones life because I downloaded something I didnt pay for? Has some forgotten developer or record label gone bankrupt because of my actions? Should I be jailed for my actions? Should I pay heavy fees for downloading these things?

I have 2000 mp3's, but only about 100 of them are not ripped from my own cd's. That 100 that I don't own I think were only available on vinyl, and are probably out of print nowadays anyway. I have a few divx's, but it's only stuff that is not on dvd yet. If it's available of dvd, I buy it.
I paid for all of my PSX/PS2 games. I bought a DC for emulation, but I have a few cd-r games. I really don't play any of them. I've actually ended up buying quite a few they I tested out by downloading: PSO, Rez, Headhunter, Soul Calibur.... I have tons of roms of which I've never owned the original carts, except for GBA... I buy those.
The last piece of software I paid for for pc is PSO. Before that it was Windows Me, which I was forced to buy with my Dell. Before that it was King's Quest 4 in the 286 days. I haven't stolen any "for pc" games though. I'm just not much of a pc gamer.

ive downloaded roms, and lots of j-pop mp3s of older music i cant find unless i go back home.
pc or console games ive never warezed, unless you count the unreal tournament given to me, which i dropped 20 dollars and got the gold pack week after anyway.
only app i ever copied was 3dsmax, which i then gave to a friend who could put it to better use than me.
