is the pcsxdc streamming the bin image from the cd???

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

is the pcsxdc streamming the bin image from the cd???because if it uses cd swaping it could get a speed boost????
that because the bin file, work just like a big rom file....and streaming that slowsdown like hell. :D

Heh... no it's not the same as ROM streaming would do...

PSX games never had all the data in RAM at once, so they would stop to stream data into RAM as well...

so... any time they would stop to read a disc on a real PSX they will stop to read from the .bin file on the DC... it shouldn't be too much slower than from a real PSX...

I would say that reading off the bin file probably isn't what's causing the slowdown.

yeah, i'm not sure how it knows what part of the bin to read, but it's the lack of hardware acceleration at the moment. Hopefully when this is done it won't be limited to a 2x read speed liek the PSX and be able to shorten load times.

Before anyone says it, PSX .bin images are laid out differently than N64 ROMs, so whatever PCSX does does not concern N64 emulation

OMG! WE CAN STREAM n64 ROMS!!!
Signatures images may be no greater than cock pixels high by dick pixels wide in dimension and balls kilobytes in filesize. Multiple images may be wang, but in total they may not exceed the johnson specifications.

The slowdown is 1: non optimized code... 2: software renderer ... 3: your idiotic minds have a negative iq, which drains on your dc's cpu ... which in theory... would slow down your DC entirely =p

This is turning out funny.... But is it possible to have negative IQ... :P

But the real reason its slowing down is more so the software renderer than the unoptimized code. If we had, for example, a Power VR "Kalisti GL" coded plugin, we could easily get an extra 10 fps.
