Looking for a programer
Hello,
***Moderators of this is not the appropriate place for this please move***
My name is Wilson Guerrero, I'm a CG artist with 8 years of experience in the videogame industry, I been looking without luck for a programer to team up with and make a dremcast game.
I can provide all the artwork for the game, my skill set includes 3D modeling (hard surface, enviromental and oganic), texturing (PBR, unlit, current gen), rigging ( bipedal, creatures, mechanical), animation (mocap retarget, mocap cleaning, manual animation).
Here is my portfolio:

Re: Looking for a programer
Are you looking to collaborate or hire?
I could recommend you some indie programmers who have experience on the console.

Re: Looking for a programer
Anyone will do, if the programer already have a project on the way and needs help with the 3d art that is fine with me, if it doesn't we can chat and create one from scratch.cube_b3 wrote:Are you looking to collaborate or higher?

Re: Looking for a programer
Hey juguefre,
that's an impressive portfolio!
Are you trying to work on something commercial or just a hobby project?
Currently most homebrew games for the Dreamcast are only 2D.
The tools to create 3D games are quite poor and we're trying to improve the situation currently. You also have to realize that the hardware is limited, so PBR etc is not possible and skills like lowpoly are more relevant.
We're mostly just a bunch of hobby programmers, so we could definitely use the input of an experienced artist.
One of our community members just started to create an exporter with animations for Blender. Is that something you could work with?
viewtopic.php?f=29&t=103833#p1049100
I'm just a hobby programmer trying to improve the graphics tech, but I can't currently fully dedicate my time to a project.
Another hobby programmer, Ph3nom, is quite advanced in making an own game. Maybe you can help him with artwork?

Re: Looking for a programer
Hello bogglez,
The main thing I want is to work and release a 3D game for the dreamcast (my favorite console of all times), so if we decide to release it for free for whatever reason so be it, or if for any other reason we decide to go commercial (I like this one a bit more) I can put a good amount of work to create some good looking assets for a commercial game .
I don't have knowledge on how the dreamcast work at 3D level but I have plenty of experience in 3D in general, it will be a matter of stablish a pipeline for assets production and the rest is pretty much covered. EDIT (I just saw Ph3nom have this part covered so no problem here at all)
I read somewhere that the dreamcast can render 5 to 6 million poligons per second and that is a BIG number! don't get me wrong I know games today render billions per second but we are talking about the dreamcast here and bottom line I dare to say I can make the whole artwork within those 5 million polygons budget, not per second, the whole game artwork!
Seems like I cannot private message Ph3nom..... I'll be glad to help him improve/complete the game visuals.
If you bogglez or anyone can redirect him here I'll apreciate that.
Thanks for the help guys!

You can check out his youtube channel to see what his game engine is capable of right now: https://www.youtube.com/user/PH3NOMDC/videos
He made a portal clone using maps from Quake which looks quite impressive. I think better art assets would help him a lot.
I sent him a PM.

Re: Looking for a programer
It was you... So I guess recommending you as a programmer is no longer viable.
Chui is a really popular programmer available for hire these days.

Unfortunately, I rarely have any large amounts of time to devote to code. My doctoral studies/duties tend to take a lot of my time...cube_b3 wrote:It was you... So I guess recommending you as a programmer is no longer viable.
My time is better served in maintaining KOS anyway, I think.

Re: Looking for a programer
I like to program an animation for a project, if there will be one.
How do I try to build a Dreamcast toolchain:

You mean model animation? You can help here viewtopic.php?f=29&t=103833#p1049096RyoDC wrote:I like to program an animation for a project, if there will be one.

Yes, exactly, model animation.
I'll look into that thread, thanks.

Re: Looking for a programer
A quick update.
We (juguefre and myself) have committed to producing a full game for Dreamcast .
I do not want to give away many details at this point, but I can say this will possibly be the most advanced FPS on DC.
Still not using assets from juguefre, here are some shots from the current engine build:

Looking great PH3NOM. I look forward to seeing where your Q3-BSP engine goes.
