Laptop stickers

Post by Juan »

I just got this net/note/somethingbook in the mail today.

While I don't care much about its aesthetics, going from the clean looks of

to this (lettings aside the craptastic cellphone photo)

makes me wonder if I should get a discount for the advertising.

So if any of you ever dealt with this sticker bs, I'd appreciate some pointers.

The hardest one to get off is the Windows one because it's this thick metallic sticker that feels superglued on. You just have to get a knife, take it slow and pry it up. The GPU and Energy Star stickers are going to leave the most residue, so you might soak them in Goo Gone for a bit. The big sticker on the left should just peel up no problem.

Goo Gone is the solution to your problems, as mel says.

I always hated those stickers. I bought a new laptop not too long ago and still haven't messed with getting the stickers off yet. I need to pick up some goo gone and mess with it when I have some time to spend on it. I don't feel like killing the body of my laptop.

Goo Gone ftw. I use it all the time. Incidentally, I also used it to take off my laptop stickers.

You do... the manufacturers who put those stickers on their laptops usually do so to get money off of the technology provided the advertised companies. Given that the PC market is low-margin and cutthroat on pricing, you can be assured that that savings is pretty much passed down to you.

The only company who doesn't put these stickers on their stuff? Apple... of course, they're "overpriced"
It's thinking...

$1,000 is a pretty steep price for an OS.

Yeah, what darc said. Also, I don't use goo-gone, but what I just do is take the sticker off and then you can just use them to get the sticky stuff off for the most part. You just re stick the sticker over the gooey part a few times and it should come off. I want to mention this other cleaning product though. It is called "Totally Awesome" and sometimes "La Totallys Awesome" or something spanish like that. It is a buck at the dollar store and is the fucking shit. It is water based, doesn't seem to be able to damage anything, and fucking cleans everything. You spray it on something, wait 30-60 seconds if it is realllly bad, and then wipe and it is gone. I had some syrup and shit spilt on my desk that stayed for a week and that got it off with just a little bit of scrubbing. So, yeah, get that cleaning product and you'll love it. It is a yellow liquid btw.
