Actually, their kits are not the same thing as the Afterburner kits. I've owned both one of these and a GBA with the Afterburner; this is far, far better.
The Afterburner is a frontlight kit.
These have *backlit* screens. It's basically installing the screen from the GBA SP in the original GBA.

Why did nobody tell me this iPhone was going to be an evil trap to let me relive all my old DOS gaming memories in exchange for all the money?
Just spent a good chunk of the evening playing Raptor: Call of the Shadows and Duke Nukem 2. The touchscreen isn't exactly ideal for either one, but I'll probably end up getting some sort of controller for this once iOS 7 is out.

I should probably also mention that Eva bought (and thus I've been watching) BioShock Infinite.

Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
Games I've bought in the last month or so:
Steam:
Civilization IV and all its expansions
GTA III, VC, SA, Episodes from Liberty City, and IV
Counter-Strike Global Offensive
Dreamcast:
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
MP3DC
ODCM Dreamcast Preview PC CD-ROM (Sept. 1999)
Flag to Flag
Sega Bass Fishing
Exhibition of Speed
While it's got a cool case and all, $150 is ridiculously expensive for a repro cart. For that amount of money you could buy a donor cartridge, some EPROMs, and an EPROM programmer and make one yourself and still come out way ahead.

Incidentally, if you're a (well-heeled) diehard fan, you can always get this very nice unofficial Eartbound Zero (Mother 1) NES cart

Trying to knock out all the PAL-exclusive Dreamcast titles for my collection. In addition to Exhibition of Speed I got the other day, I just picked up Headhunter, Sega Worldwide Soccer 2000, Stunt GP, and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. Eyeing Shenmue II next...

Headhunter is a good game, danm! I used to own most of those games. I remember selling Shenmue II for a tidy profit a while back.

You should probably play it again. It really isn't that good and has aged terribly. BUT considering it came out a full year before Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell you've got to credit it for doing a lot of interesting things with stealth-em-up gameplay which wasn't really a thing outside of MGS at the time. That alone made it a fun game to play through back in the day.Matisfaction wrote:Headhunter is a good game, danm! I used to own most of those games. Shenmue II? Well there's no discussion there. God-tier gaming.
In other news despite my concerns I folded and picked up The Last of Us. I've barely played it but yeah...it's intense from the get-go really Not sure it's something I'm gonna come back to after work but we'll see...

Wow, you went all this time without owning Headhunter? That was one of my favorite DC games, and it was the first import game I got (after Rez, of course).

Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
It was the first import game I explicitly seeked out.
Bought it for only 20$, without importing it in near mint condition.
I think 3 years back I played the sequel.
I was super excited and I was ultra crushed after playing it.
The gameplay and level design wasn't that bad, but the story.
What the fuck were they thinking?
I always thought franchises were ruined when they were outsourced.
The sequel proved me wrong.

Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
Just picked up a great deal on eBay.
Everything is in excellent condition and the DC has a Samsung drive instead of the typical Yamaha drive. Everything I've read online says the Yamaha drive is more reliable, but this Samsung drive is much quieter and has read everything I've thrown at it perfectly, while my American DC with a Yamaha drive requires 2-3 tries with some of my CD-Rs. I think I'm going to use this one as my main DC now, and do multiBIOS and internal SD card mods to it.
- Japanese Dreamcast console with modem, AV cable, and power cable
- 1 controller
- 1 clear pink VMU
- 1 third-party Performance jump pack
- Shenmue Limited Edition (Japanese)
- Biohazard CODE: Veronica (Japanese)
- Soul Calibur (Japanese)
- Blue Stinger (Japanese

You're not really selling it to me there Besides I sold my DC years ago which is a shame as out of all my retro consoles it's probably the most compatible with my HD TV..Specially Cork wrote:You should probably play it (Headhunter) again. It really isn't that good and has aged terribly
I picked up Donkey Kong this week from the Wii U eshop 0.30p

Picked up Duke Nukem Forever brand new for £3, figured why not?
Been playing Pikmin 3 solidly for a week or so, it's maybe the best of the series. My second favourite thing this year after TLOU.

You'd have £3 in your pocket and unlike Hitler, you can no longer say that at least you've never played DNF.not just souLLy now wrote:Picked up Duke Nukem Forever brand new for £3, figured why not?

Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
Grabbed Shenmue II for Dreamcast (PAL version) in perfect condition for $75 shipped.
Probably could have gotten it for slightly cheaper if I waited a bit but I'm interested in playing it now as I have time to do so.

Saints Row IV.
It's great fun - probably the most complete sandbox experience around. The completely non-gimped superpowers are a definite highlight. However, it's all so shallow. Dicking about for the sake of dicking about just doesn't really hold my attention anymore.
