Opinions: "Wi-fi sensitives"

Post by ace »

Santa Fe city council recently decided to install wi-fi hotspots around the city despite complaints from so-called "wi-fi sensitive" residents.

I've long believed that people who claim to be "electronic/wi-fi sensitive" were full of it, especially considering numerous study subjects were not able to say whether or not they were experiencing and electronic interfernce during controlled tests .

I'd really like to know where DCEmulation'ers are on this subject.

Are wifi sensitives like force sensitives? Can they manipulate packets and hack stuff?

That'd be a cool sci-fi concept, but nothing more.

Probably just like their claims that they are wifi sensitive.

Several times a month, someone will tell me they want a laptop without wi-fi because they're "EM sensitive." I tell them all laptops have wi-fi now, but I could easily remove the card for $60. Just because I think they're full of shit doesn't mean I'm not happy to take their money.

Anyone ever play the Star Wars CCG by Decipher?

characters with with 3 ability are Force attuned, 4-5 ability is force sensitive, 6 is either jedi or sith, 7 is either jedi master or sith lord.

Your dose of dork has been brought to you by Fiend.

I can't rule it out theoretically, but given the political angle it's hard to take the Santa Fe claims too seriously. Shouldn't they be arguing for a total ban on Wi-Fi, or do government access points give off unique socialism rays?

Wait, what about satellite, antenna, cell phone, and radio signals? Are they sensitive to them too? And don't cordless phones use the same signal?

Cordless phones, yeah, but they didn't think that far.

I don't find it hard to believe all the waves we're shooting off all over the world don't have negative effects. I'd be fairly surprised if there weren't, actually, even if overall they're relatively minor.

But that cat is essentially out of the bag and is not going back in, for better or for worse. I find it very difficult to believe WiFi is somehow much worse than previous waves bouncing around.

But they're microwaves! It's clearly a government conspiracy to slowly cook us from the inside out!
