Game does not support A/V cable?
I've got my DC hooked up to a VGA box and Mortal Kombat Gold and Skies of Arcadia won't work because it says "Game does not support current type of A\V cable please connect correct cable". I know this means I have to use a standard TV A/V cable but that defeats the purpose! Is there any way I can get these games to work with a VGA Box? Thanks.

Re: Game does not support A/V cable?
There's a method, but it rarely works: boot the DC with the cable unplugged, and plug it in at the point when it would be displaying the "produced by or under license" screen. This only works if the game actually has code to support VGA, but it wasn't sufficiently tested/certified/whatever, or someone just screwed up when mastering the disc and left off the VGA support flag. The only game I know of for which this actually works is NFL Blitz 2000. The DC will be producing an out-of-range signal unless/until the game reconfigures the CRTC, so I'd only try this on monitors that can detect an invalid signal.

I've heard it would work with Boot CDs like CD-X or Utopia but I haven't tried it myself yet.
The North-American and Japanese versions of Skies of Arcadia do support VGA btw.

That list says MKG works with VGA but my game won't. Maybe 'cause it's burned. Would that make it not work? I tested it on a TV and MKG works fine, but Skies of Arcadia won't boot...

Games put in a toaster usually don't work that well anymoreSerious Sam wrote:That list says MKG works with VGA but my game won't. Maybe 'cause it's burned. Would that make it not work? I tested it on a TV and MKG works fine, but Skies of Arcadia won't boot...

You're in the US, and the list mentions the European version of MKG.
Re: Game does not support A/V cable?
There is a binary hex hack that you can look around on the internet. It simply removes the checks for games that can run in vga but had it disabled. Like the euro version of skies or mkg.
