We once removed one of AmadeusZull's sigs for being 279 bytes over the limit. ace volunteered to remove one of his own sig images when he discovered it was 30.3kB. We have also removed images for being a single pixel too wide.Nyarlathotep wrote:So... those sig limits aren't even rounded to the nearest k, they're measured in bytes?
Wow. That's really, really petty.
Maybe want to make those rules explicitly clear, wouldn't want people to feel picked on or anything, huh?
To be honest, it never occured to me that someone would think that "30 kilobytes" means anything other than just that. If you go to the supermarket and see "two loaves of bread for a pound", you wouldn't think you could take two loaves of bread and a couple of extra slices, because it still rounds down to two loaves.

WTF!? It was your rule! You are the one that came up with it!Nyarlathotep wrote:So... those sig limits aren't even rounded to the nearest k, they're measured in bytes?

And for the record, we have always done this. I once had my sig called out by Roofus for being 30.07k. We have kept an uncrossable line for years. And if you find any sigs that break the rule, tell us and we will fix it. Obviously we can't find them all, but nobody has been allowed around the rule, ever.

To have gone through the staff forums to find that Kron sig, you probably realise by now I was never a sig nazi, unless you mean in implementing the rules in the first place.
Which I stand by as being needed.
Personal attacks on other members are allowed in sigs now?
EDIT: 8 posts in a row now entirely off topic.

There's a little thing called Search that makes it so I don't have to go through forums.Nyarlathotep wrote:To have gone through the staff forums to find that Kron sig, you probably realise by now I was never a sig nazi, unless you mean in implementing the rules in the first place.

And no, I don't think you were a sig nazi; it was a joke. There were rules and you certainly rightfully enforced them.
But for someone with such a hard on for rules, one would think you would be able to appreciate them being enforced. Thirty kilobytes means thirty kilobytes; thirty kilobytes means 30,720 bytes. Your sig was a few hundred bytes above that, so it was removed. No one is picking on you. Of course, if it was someone else and we were to take your rounding approach, you would attempt to call me out for playing favorites.
Signatures are 30kB/30,720B maximum, flaming is not allowed in sigs, and yes, this topic should be split right about now. It's nice that you're playing pretend admin.

You all make excellent points, but in future, could you phrase them in the form of a bread metaphor?
