I loved the wind waker game and i was just wondering thats all.Smiley wrote:I generally hate people I've talked to whose biggest complaint about this game was the childish-looking Link and other graphics.
Seriously, wtf cares?! It was a great game, nonetheless.

That's definitely my biggest complaint. I'm sick of Nintendo taking their perfectly true franchises and taking them down a notch as far as age group goes.Smiley wrote:I generally hate people I've talked to whose biggest complaint about this game was the childish-looking Link and other graphics.

I love Zelda, but I hate the whole style and feel of Minish Cap and Wind Waker. They were great games, but why the hell do you think Twilight is doing so good? It returned Zelda back to its darker side, how it should've been.
I despise the fact that the people who grew up playing NES and SNES are now older and more mature, but the Nintendo franchises seem to be aging backwards. This definitely pushes away the huge fanbase they used to have, and now aims the Gamecube more towards the 7-year old age group.
Before everybody gets pissed that I'm judging the Gamecube as a kiddie console, remember that that's how Nintendo marketted it. If you think that the median age group for GC players isn't significantly lower, you're in denial.
This is why I'm still extremely skeptic about the Wii. I hope that they turned over a new leaf, but I'm not going to rush to the store to buy "Gamecube II."

I knew you were going to say that.Darcus Magnus wrote:Because it's the most solid launch title for a revolutionary new system that has very few good launch titles?GyroVorbis wrote:They were great games, but why the hell do you think Twilight is doing so good?
True. I should've said why do you think it's so "popular." All the people who despised Wind Waker, and the bright 'n' happy Zelda games for Gamecube and GBA with the little kid Link now get to go back to their roots. Zelda has returned to the darker, more mature style that it started with.
You can't tell me that if the Wii launched with Wind Waker 2, everybody would've made as big a deal as they are Twilight Princess.

Because Zelda is one of those games that has a fanboy-formula. Nintendo can essentially churn out the same game every few years and expect everybody to be happy. Make any big changes however and suddenly Nintendo are worse than the Nazis.GyroVorbis wrote:You can't tell me that if the Wii launched with Wind Waker 2, everybody would've made as big a deal as they are Twilight Princess.

It's not about young Link. I'm complaining about the new styles in particular. Young Link was great in Ocarina of Time.Covar wrote:yea i hated zelda, zelda II, link to the past, links awakening, ocarina of time, mujora's mask, oracle of ages, oracle of seasons, and every other zelda game. young link sucks. link should only be above age 20GyroVorbis wrote:True. The great Zeldas like the first one, Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess all have darker and more mature moods to them. Notice that these are also the more popular Zelda games?
I'm just personally not a huge fan of the Wind Waker-style Zelda games. I play them, but I still despise the style, and no matter how much you try to argue, I'm still not the only one who thinks that way.
Way to go, buddy. Only I'm pretty sure Wagh was being sarcastic.Juan wrote:GyroVorbis wrote:Zelda has returned to the darker, more mature style that it started with.Wagh wrote:Nintendo and Zelda didn't change, you did. Duh.

Don't get bent out of shapeGyroVorbis wrote:You're right! Zelda was always cel shaded, Link was always the same age, and Nintendo's consoles were always the same targetted audience!Wagh wrote:I'm not.
The zelda games have all played the same dispite how it's presented. That's why people buy them. It's just fun to see how many different ways they can tell the story.
