Crazy Taxi Records
Hi to all, I'm a big fan of crazy taxi 1 since the days, but due to may age (my reflexes are not what they used to be) and my son i don't have all that much time to play. Anyway, i did this record today, i know its not much, please post your records so i can have an idea if i totally suck or there is some hope left
This record is of the Arcade Map in Crazy Taxi 1, played with GUS by arcade rules on the Dreamcast through VGA box!

Damn! That really is amazing. I don't think I have ever managed more than 20 customers. I really like the game, perhaps I should play it more. Anyway, Id love to see a video of that. Or parts of it. Would be interesting to see how its done...

Is it an advantage to play this game with a steering wheel, or a disadvantage? I still need to pick up this game, that's for sure.

It depends on how good the steering wheel is. I'd rather play the arcade version with the arcade wheel over the Dreamcast version any day, just because I can do much better with a wheel.Cid Highwind wrote:Is it an advantage to play this game with a steering wheel, or a disadvantage? I've never found a wheel of that quality however, except for a few USB ones for the Playstation 2.

I'd make a video, but it would be really long. Sometimes one session can go for over an hour. I prefer the Arcade mode and Arcade rules, though.Imerion wrote:Damn! That really is amazing. I wouldn't say that either. It really depends on the wheel. I can get a much higher score on the arcade version than I can on the Dreamcast version with a controller, just because the wheel of the arcade version is so well designed.Nick wrote:I didn't say it was bad, just highly detrimental to one's attempt at a high score.

Hi there folks, it's been a while since I last came to the forums... and hey! This place keeps rocking!
ANyways... about the highscores, it's actually an impressive ammount you got in there Segata -Congrats!!
I think I had something about 19 customers if my memory doesnt betray me, but ammounted something around the $30,000 range. Im gonna hook up the DC to be sure and take a snap of it, if my saved file is still alive that is.
And maybe I just got too much used to it, but Im rather comfortable with the DC stick than with the arcade steering wheel. And as 404 implied, it's defintly much easier to pull out the crazy limiter trick on the controller than on the wheel with the pedals, since you can psuh the gar and the gas using only your thumb and your index finger.
(Or maybe It's just a lame excuse beacuse I just suck with my feet/hand coordination, who knows )

I love playing DC Racing games with the wheel. It's better, you just get a better feel. The analog stick is just too small for the total range that you want. I use the Sega one, which has the hand paddles and is easier to control than foot pedals.
My record was over 200 customers, if I remember correctly. But I don't think I was playing with default settings.

Well I just got this game yesterday, and so far my best result in the Arcade mode with the default settings is a Class C with $ 2,851.74.
Is there actually any difference between the 4 cabbies?

Gus is the strongest, meaning that when you crash he is more likely to push the traffic out of the way instead of doing the 360 himself, Gena is faster and the car responds quicker... actually its better for you to just play with everybody once then pick the cab you felt most comfortable with and build from there.

Alright, thanks for the input, at least I know there actually is some difference, I'll give em all a try and try to figure out some of their 'specialties' by reading the manual
