Yeah -- over at SegaXtreme, we're still trying to perfect the Model 1 modding technique. I think a couple of guys have got it to work, but we still need a solid tutorial.

MKE:
I still have about 30-some left right now.
They are moving briskly, but I should still have some left for another week or two

only damaging if you do it wrong. been doing it for YEARS and my SS is still running like a champ.

Oh man am I chuffed I checked out this post! I've been looking for a modchip supplier for ages! Will definetly buy a modchip off you!

Just a word of warning to anyone, don't put an xbox game into a modded saturn. It totally knacked in my cd drive trying to read the thing lol I've finally bought a used saturn and ready to buy a new chip.

LOL -- thanks for the tip :) And just let me know when you're ready for your chips!

And yes, Pablo, 3DOXtreme is our sister site. I haven't been on there lately though.

Wasn't intentional trust me! lol I don't know how I managed it. I left an xbox game in my saturn game box and without looking at it, I put it in my saturn. By the time I realised what I'd done, the saturn was busy trying to read the disk and just started making funny noises. After that it wouldn't read any disk at all. My baby was dead :(

That still seems weird.
Not sure why it would mess up the drive.

Can't you salvage the old chip from the defective saturn?
I still cannot believe you put a x-box game in a modded saturn!! You must have been really bored.....

I've had two people successfully mod a model 1 with the instructions from SegaXtreme (link on my site)

It's trickier and I haven't tried it personally, but it has worked.

Are these chips rather easy to install. I have very little knowledge of soldering, and haven't cracked a console...yet.

Should I just get a import enabler disc?
