Alice Dreams 3.0 released !

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Alice Dreams 3.0 is released !

After its presentation at the Jaguar Connexion 2005, Alice Dreams 3.0 is released on http://www.alicedreams.com

Changelog since version 2.1 :

- The game now includes plateformer stages larger and better elaborated with vertical scrolling.
- Complete stage 2.
- English speeches.
- A 4-players surprise bonus stage, which is unlocked when you complete the stage 2.
- Options and Bonus stages unlocked are saved on VMU (2 blocks on the VMU connected on the first controller). You don't have to finish the game more than once in order to play bonus stages !

Don't hesitate to try our game. No modifications for your console are required (you don't need modchips or boot cd). You only need to burn the game on a CD-R. You should use Alcohol 120 % for its easy use. You can also use Disc Juggler. You'll find tutorials and links for these in the download section, so that you can easily try our game.

played it for like 2 hours now.

it's really cool to hear all those voices in the english dub.

i so far only managed to get till the 3rd level of the 2nd stage, everything a bit confusing. Stage 2 looks a lot better than the platformer parts of stage one, with animations like the rain and waterfalls, any chance some more adventure parts get added?

It's worth finishing the stage 2 to unlock the second bonus stage :)
If you're a bit confused, it is normal as we wanted to render the fact that Alice is lost in the forest. There are lot of false way.

Don't worry about adventure parts, they'll be part of stage 3 ;)

Cool, it's a nice looking 2d game, and the xbox supports higher resolutions then the dreamcast whould looking really sharp on xbox.

Well, looks like you guys love the english dub in Alice Dreams eh? I'm glad you did. In the next version, there will be a change...for the better. I'm going to be handing over the casting part of Alice over to my girlfriend, Danielle. She sounds almost like the original Alice and she's absolutely perfect for the part. She isn't a big gamer but she's watching Alice with a lot of interest. I'd like to get with the rest of the voice actors pretty soon to see who's all "here" and who's ready to get going with the next version. We might have to go here in about a month or two but I'm just working ahead to get going fast. ...and hey patbier, let me know when the next convention is so I can be there! :P

dreamcast can have 1024x1024 textures rendered at 800x600(approx).

that's what i did yesterday evening. Wasn't that hard after all, i guess i took a shortcut in stage 2.2 i wasn't supposed to take (run all the way to the right from the beginning and then jump).

-graphics really improved compared to stage one, looking awesome
-the climbing animation could do some improvements, as could the walking sounds in stage one
-i really like the gameover and stage completed screens, any chance you also add this to the normal loading screen, it still looks a bit empty
-while i really like the first bonus game (despite being unable to beat it), i'm not really happy with the 2nd one, it's just running WAY too slow, any chance you can speed it up a bit?

in case i'm sounding too negative... just to have said it - this game is totally AMAZING and really some of the best homebrew stuff out there, getting close to the range of commercial games... and i love it.
