another one is at the moment pulled apart as I'm trying to put the mod chip as well as replacing shell and possibly LED mod but due to lack of time it's been pushed aside...

other than that I have another PAL DC with mod chip in clear shell that works fine with all US/JP/EU titles... this is the one missus using at the moment to play Samba de Amigo.
Ebay is fine as long as you do your home work, Llike i dnt usually buy stuff off peeps with less than 95% pos. feedback (but that depends on how much feed back theyve got)
and auctions without pics are a little dodgey, Also Peeps who say "Ive not tested the item but it should work", and then say its a buy what you see auction.
even if they have 60% pros it is good enough they are people who are whining the product came 10 minutes late or why is it comming late I payed the money late but the producxt was suppose to come early...
