This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

WooT!!!
the first homebrew/comercial product on dreamcast with update capabilities?
BTW, just by adding binary launcher abilities (the source of dchacker), you can achieve arqueiro's idea of a dreamcast desktop interface \\o \o/ o//
can it be ported to LUA for a simple bin plugin?

Commercial ? dcplaya is not commercial ...

You can already load plugins in dcplaya. A plugin in dcplaya can do anything, it's just an elf executable. Loading bin would be possible too, but you could not return to dcplaya after that because a bin file is not relocatable, so it's going to erase over dcplaya in memory.
I've just realized that the -z option I'm talking about in dc-tool does not exist. Or more precisely it only exist in my version, so I released that patched version on sourceforge. It's a source code release only.
sorry, zigziggy. i misspelled it homebrew/comercial stands for homebrew OR comercial, just nobody did it yet. and is a idea usable in many other projects too
can it (the dchacker source) be ported to LUA (bin_launcher.lua) for a simple bin (launcher) plugin?
nah, i got your idea, now i'm reading some things about lua...
i think i found another bug. 2.0 beta doesnt detect any Audio CD's. Original or on cd-r's. it just does nothing. i open the console and it just says something like, "fs_iso9660 : disc change detected". and thats it. no displaying the number of tracks like 1.2 does.
speaking of which, 1.2 doesnt seem to recognize my audio cd-r's that were burned Disc-at-Once using nero. it can detect it properly as a cdda cdrom, but the number of tracks it lists is [0].

This is something that I haven't ported since we switched to kos 1.3. Maybe Ben will take care of that, he was the one who made the cdda support ... It's not high on my own priority list.

oops, looks like I misunderstood
can it (the dchacker source) be ported to LUA (bin_launcher.lua) for a simple bin (launcher) plugin?
I don't know dchacker, but if all it does is launch a .bin , then yes it's possible. Now , is that useful for dcplaya, I don't know ... If what you want is a menu to select a .bin to run from a CD when you boot it, I would not use dcplaya for that because dcplaya takes some time to boot. In other words, it's bit an overkill to use dcplaya for just that
By the way, loading binary cannot be really implemented in lua, that would require some SH4 code (so C code). Of course there could be a lua interface for it then.
Can you release a compiled version of the DC tool as I cannot compile the source and I really want to check the network stuff? You can email it to me Qatmix@hotmail.com
1) some spc won't play [buffer is loaded tough] but the player keep running
2) some IT file will crash it.
3 the worst ) there's no way to change song in the nsf files; only the first one can be played.
on the other hand, it is a great release

Could you send me one of these .spc file. However, I'm afraid there is not much we can do here, we're using libspc, if it doesn't support that file then it's just like that ...
2) some IT file will crash it.
What is IT ? By crash , you mean a complete freeze of dcplaya ?
3 the worst ) there's no way to change song in the nsf files; only the first one can be played.
Actually you can, but only from the console You have to type
playa_play <filename> <song_number>
It's on my todo list to add a GUI interface for that ...
I have ported about half of my dvd library to the codec combo I mentioned earlier. They all look great, the subs work... simply put, even when you make an updated version of the playa, I will just copy these movies over. I am done looking for the sweet spot in quality/size, and your player made the difference.
Thanks a heap, and I look forward to your future releases!

That sounds good What settings are you using with 16:9 format ?
By the way, did I misunderstand or are you burning your movie with dcplya on one same CD ? Because you don't really need to do that ...

1) the entire actraiser spc pack from zophar domain won't work for
example
2) it is impulse tracker modules, and yes, the file froze everithing
3) whoaH! i just use dcplaya with the controllers... i suggest the use of the R and L triggers for changing file played in nsf files.
the same thing would rock for jumping track on the playlist
4) i'm not able to create a savefile for dc playa... can't be done in an easier way?
by the way everithing else rocks

Karsten, what's that Auritech link in your signature?
Don't tell me this company really exists.I can see the fake from the first look.
The English on this page is so bad and there are lots of typos and stuff.
The company is researching into anti-gravity,yeah,yeah! :)
FEISAR and AG Systems? C'mon!...those "companies" were "making" the ships in the Wipeout series of games on the PS1 :)))
And the computer equipment consists of Dual Pentium II machines with Linux? LOL! How can they use such 10-year old trash CPUs for research?
They should have PowerMac G5s or better, like a Dual AMD Opteron or a multiprocessor SGI system :)
