Game Disc Problem

ok i dont know if this is the right forum to post this in so sorry in advance if it isnt. Anyways, i bought Soul Calibur awhile ago and i just got around to playing it now and everything was fine until i had to face Astaroth. If you're familiar with the game it comes to a screen that shows the characters with vs. in between the two pictures. At this point, my DC just stops and the game freezes. I have no idea whats wrong because the game disc is in perfect condition with no scratches on it. If anyone knows anything or can point me in the direction of a possible solution it would be greatly appreciated.

It might just be a bit dirty, and even the most minute scratches could potentially cause a problem like this.
