32X, Sega CD and Saturn

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

32X, Sega CD and Saturn

Post by slasher »

I saw Atani has almost broken through to get the Sega CD fully ported over and is just starting work on the 32X. So how far in the future can the Saturn be if we can play 32X/CD games like Corpse Killer for example? It does sound possible.

By mega emu cd, i think you may refering to demomenu. Last i heard, consolevision was back up, so cruise over there and pick it up along with the boot kit for it. The boot kit can be easily used as a general purpose self boot tool.

Demo menu basically brings up a lil menu with a list of all your files on it. You gotta rename all your 1st read bins to a name you'll recognize, and when you load up the program, click on the emulator and it's load. The roms can go on the same cd too, so all your stuff is on one cd.
Need a Treamcast, Dreamcast modchip, HUGE DC memory card, ASCII-like DC fighter pad, or Saturn Gameshark with tons of backup memory? PM me.

I'm pretty sure we won't see a 32X emu any time soon because i can't even get a full speed 32x emu on my 450MHZ pc...

the 32x isn't really that sought after cause it has such a small amount of games. Yes i would like to see it...but there isn't enough people out there that think that.

Oh right a sega cd emulator my bad.

I would expect a new dc gen soon wih some killer updates, but that's just me, not really informed, just from readin posts.

I believe sega cd emulation is possible, be almost like a boot disc in final form i'd bet.

We'll prolly see some attempt at 32x / saturn emulation this summer.

is 32X emulation on the PC quite slow due to it being hard to emulate or just the lack of interest in the console?

Arctic Feather

btw i'll be in 6th form next year too :D so i'll be doing my A/S computing in lower 6th next year too

It's kinda both... You have to keep all the systems in sync for one, and people don't really like the 32x either. Though some cool games did come out for it and they look VERY nice. You can see that Sega liked shoving the scale and rotate functions in Nintendos face because they are EVERYWHERE in Knuckles Chaotix.. or at least i think they are. Personally, I think it makes the game look all grainey and crappy when you do that, but that's just me.

This summer? That seems kinda early.. but personally i'd think it would be AWSOME to be able to play legit segacd/saturn games in a dreamcast. The DC could be like a Sega all-in-wonder.

I agree about the scaling/rotation effects. They looked SOOO stuck in. Especially on the Sega/Mega CD bios, the flying logos everywhere.
