Music for Homebrew Games

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Yes,made with the FL 4.12 demo,no saving though :)
It takes much more time to make it with more variations and with better arrangement.
It takes at least two times to save and take a break and tweak it till it's done.
Synthesized voices are used because I didn't have time to record actual vocals and speech.

For just a pure a demonstration of what I can do with only the FL Studio demo it's more than enough.

DJ HERE!...

Post by Driverdkh »

Hi!
I am a DJ and would love to create musik for the new homebrew games (or something like that) :D ! I already have 2 CD's that i made (but dont have a site up yet, trying to get a decent webpage builder program :( ). So if you want any mixes done, just ask! Styles: Tekno, Trance, Rave, Ambient, Hardcore, Happy Hardcore, looking forward to get a decent Terrorcore mixer, and many more!

SEGA Fan,

Dane K. H.
DJ Tekkno (yes i know, the Tekkno part is too original [trying to change it, as soon as i think up another name for myself])
Tekno is the only way to go!

Oh,man...just trance,psy-trance,hardcore,techno,and everything else mechanical-sounding :(
What happened to all the other natural-sounding music genres, like rock, pop, symphonic, jazz, funk, bossa nova, and such?

Isn't there anyone that can actually compose, but not sequence something? :)))

I'm getting tired of nearly all kinds of electronic music, except house and dance(there are SOME tracks that remind me of the good old days when [even electronic] music was more natural-sounding).

I wanna hear music like the good ol' Game Boy/SNES/PSX days, where the compositions were brilliant and NOT "Techno" :)

At least Megaman-like music would be good :)

I have a MIDI file for you.Just PM me and leave your e-mail address.
I'll send you the MID file. This is how game music shold sound.

ATTENTION:
----------------
BUT,YOU MUST DOWNLOAD Yamaha S-YXG50 SoftSynth and install it on your PC to be able to listen to it the way it is meant to be.Any other way it sounds like a piece of crap, but with S-YXG50,you'll swear it's NOT MIDI :)

Download the 30-day trial version of S-YXG50 (v3 for Win98SE,and v4 for WinXP) at

http://www.yamaha.co.uk/xg/html/midplug/m_syg50a.htm

Install it and use the included XG Player to play the file,
If you wanna use Winamp or Windows players to play the .MID,you must set it in the Windows options and in Winamp. (select SXG Driver as the main MIDI driver).

PM me,listen to the file and then post your comments :)

Or,if you prefer "techno",I have some of that also (NOT MIDI) :)

the thing on the "brilliant musik" part

Post by Driverdkh »

the thing on the "brilliant musik" part (GBC, SNES, PSX), that IS electronica a.k.a. Techno...just so you know...i am a tekno guru and DJ, i know basically everything about tekno and what the different sub-genre's sound like.
Tekno is the only way to go!

Driverdkh,U R a tekkno guru? :) I'm not a tekkno guru,but I also make tekkno :P
Hehe.

Nobody knows what I really make when it comes to music genres.I always experiment with various styles and genres to expand my musical creativity and knowledge, but what I'm most specialized in,nobody knows,or you haven't heard anything before :)

Don't worry,you will hear it soimeday,when I complete my new album :)
You'll hear one day...very soon.

For now,I'm busy with music for 2 projects for DC - PSD 2.0 and an RPG game....

In the meantime, who wants a tiny MIDI file? :)
PM me,and I'll send it to your e-mailbox.

How do you people feel about using music creation programs such as MTV Music Generator to create music? Am I too cheap for using that? It produces very well, and for someone who is not good at just composing things off of the top of my head like all you talented people are, so something with about a million different things to pick from work for me just fine.

Hohoho,I used that program A LOT before, when I didn't have a PC,nor a Keyboard to compose things. It was only my good ol' PlayStation One and the MTV Music Generator (a.k.a. Music 2000 in Europe).
I've managed to do stuff with this software that can't even do now :P
It's quite powerful, when you know how to get the maximum out of it.

I'll send a demo just for you :)

Ah,the good ol' PSX days...when I was actually trying to compose with that thing, without using ANY phrase, loop or sample from other CD.I used it like I had a MIDI sequencer and nothing else :P

I made a modern remix of the Metroid II GameBoy Theme and a TON of original stuff, too.

Nakamichi, I was wondering if you would still be interested in doing some stuff for ljsdcdev... I'm almost done with porting it back to windows (It currently runs on Linux), so that'll be available to work with too...

Thanks.

You're really porting the latest demo build to Windows? :) Yay!
If I can sample the graphics and gameplay,I can do the music which will match the graphics and gameplay perfectly :)

You want the music in OGG format, right? (or you like MIDI files?)

OGG would probably still be best. Also, the latest demo still isn't much to look at... its a lot better, still not great yet :P .

EDIT: And to answer the first question, yes I am really porting the latest demo to windows, using my new semi-platform-independent version of ljsdcdev that I released (quietly) for Linux about a week ago. I think I have the video code right, but haven't had a chance to try it in windows yet. (I'm downloading wine, and I installed a MinGW compiler in Linux today to do some preliminary tests with it.)

EDIT 2: And the little dude in my avitar is one of the sprites for the game (I drew him myself, and I'm quite proud of it, since I can't draw for beans).

Eh, looks like I should probably jump into this topic as well, seeing how I've offered my services to the Super Famicast project.

Anyways.... here's some of my work - I apologize for the fact geocities sucks.

http://www.geocities.com/erinspartyrpg/Upbeattheme.wma (Please don't keep this one on your PC)
also at http://www.angelfire.com/music5/rigormo ... tTheme.wma

This one's unfinished and unpolished, but still listenable

or

And here's a joke track I wrote to insult a forum troll we had here recently...

See http://www.dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=44494 for more info + lyrics
Edit: Now mirrored at http://www.nexicom.net/~rainbow/misc/HBH.wma

All tracks were entirely written with Cakewalk Sonar and various software synths - the synths I use most often are the Edirol/Roland Virtual Sound Canvas DXi, the Computer Music CM-101 analog synth and SR-202 drum synth, the ppd Tritium bass synth.

Heh,I use S-YXG50,the Audigy 2 MIDI GM/GS set and the Dreamcast Yamaha XG MIDI set.Occasionally I also use the amazing retro DX FM synths for more exotic sounds.
